Hi. My name is Maggie and I'm currently doing a research paper about problems either locally, or globally. My topic is Puppy Mills and my appoach is why they are bad. They're bad because the owners don't care for their dogs nor do they treat them well. What I I'm saying in my paper is basically if you buy a puppy from a puppy mill you are supporting a type of animal cruelty. Can you tell me what the proper breeding of a dog is and really the cold truth of the puppy mill owners and why they are bad? Thanks a bunch. -Maggie
One of the biggest differnces of a good breeder and a puppy mill breeder is a puppy mill breeder breeds their dogs on the first heat and every heat thereafter. Where a responsible breeder waits until the 2nd or 3rd heat before breeding and then will breed on every other heat. And a responsible breeder will have their dogs routinely examined by a veterinarian. Dogs in puppy mills rarely ever receive veterinary care. Good breeders will provide a lot of care and personal attention and socialization. Whereas puppy mill dogs are kept in tiny cages their whole life with no opportunity for exercise or socialization with humans. The differences all come down to raising a dogs as loving pets or as a cash crop.
