The most important thing is to tell as many people as possible not to buy a puppy from a pet store. Almost all puppies sold in pet stores come from puppy mills. The ultimate solution is to dry up the market for puppy mill puppies.

You can also write the governor of your state and request that he/she strictly enforce all existing laws protecting animals from abuse and the need to regulate large commercial breeders that are selling dogs to pet stores.

Also check out the ASPCA's web site which list ten things you can do to fight puppy mills.

Thank you Mr. Baker. I have written my governor a number of times and have heard nothing. I will continue to write him (Ed Rendell - PA.) I will not give up for the sake of our four legged friends!.

I am surprised that Governor Rednell has failed to respond to your letters. He really cares about this issue but has a lot of uncaring and incompetent people working for him in the Department of Agriculture. If you write him again let him know that you are not satisfied with what the state Department of Agriculture is doing. The Department has really failed to help the dogs.

I can't give any donations, but if there was a petition I'd sign it.
