I have three pugs with disabilities as two are deaf and blind and my other has three legs all are rescues and seniors but i love them with all my heart. It is alot of work to take care of these poor little wonders but they are worth it,they do really great it doesn't slow them down much.

Hi Stephan, Molly still likes to do the same things she did before the loss of her eyes. She has a new Schnoodle brother named Alex, which has been a wonderful experience for her. I really enjoy taking Molly out to make new friends, especially with the kids in the neighborhood. They are always amazed to discover that she is blind and that she can do so many things like any other dog, and more. I believe it's important to teach kids early that life is valuable and precious. I also like to spread the word about blastomycosis, and I have yet to meet a person that has ever heard of it. Now that Molly has fully recovered, I think I would like to do therapy work with her. I don't know if she can get certified as a therapy dog now that she is blind, though I don't see why not. I'll have to look into that. What an inspiration she would be!

Kim...I couldn't agree more....WE DO HAVE THE BEST PETS!!!!
Whatever their needs or medical circumstances they never give up on themselves so we get strength from their courage.
Battle on...

I have a 5 year old Newfoundland who contracted Blastomycosis a little over a year ago. In Mollys case the disease attacked her eyes which left her blind and she eventually had to have her eyes removed. According to our vet, blasto usually attacks the lungs of an animal and even with a quick diagnosis it is usually to late. Molly is able to be off of her medication now but still has routine blood tests done to monitor her white blood cells. Today Molly is back to her happy, sweet self. She is a constant inspiration to her family and to all that meet her.

I have a 2 year old walker with histoplasmosis. We got her from a rescue group in scott county. They told us her previous owner kept her in an old pegon pen. She is on meds and will be for a long time though the vet says she will survive which is rare for histoplasmosis. Long live the underdogs who beat a serious disease can find forever homes regardless of health problems. And props to those out there who like us take chances on the deformed, deaf blind and sick WE KNOW WE HAVE THE BEST PETS!!!

Hello everyone, My name is Jenny Benjamin, I am the animal warden in Quincy IL, from time to time I have to pick up stray special needs dogs that are in need, it's hard to place these dogs with the right owner, so I am looking for a little help. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Mandy,
She was abandoned in the Mojave Desert, animal control picked her up, two days later they noticed a bloody pup in the cage with her. When they checked she had given birth to 3 little beauties. I do rescue and the shelter staff asked if we could take them. Of course we did. She's a sweet, friendly, lovable 18 month old ball of furry love, almost completely white with baby blue eyes. I can't keep her so she's being boarded until we can find a place for her
