bsl Discrimination needs to be stopped based on breeds... it doesnt just stop with the American Pitt Bull, It branches out and includes Pit mixes, Staffordshire Terrior, Bull Terrier, Rottweilier, Doberman, Chow Chow, Dalmations and the German Shepherd... This needs to stop, its not the dogs fault, and it shouldnt be based on the dog breed itself, you should take a look at the owners of these breeds, the ones that abuse and mistreat them then decide what what you think. I feel they should be given a chance and not just killed because of there breed... This is wrong and there is no sense in it. American Pit Bull Terrier

Dangerous Dogs... I think Not... Someone that has not had the Pleasure of owning any of these wonderful dogs, should not be stereotyping the breed at any cost.

I believe no animal should be discriminated for its color, shape, or any other reason. Animals only have one life to live, and they shouldn't have to be punished for being different. I also agree- judge the deed not the breed. And it's not the animals fault it's the owners fault.

Something has to be done.. Ignorance about dogs breeds more ignorance and fear. I am the proud mom to 2 pitbulls and have owned 3 more "bully breeds" over my life time.. I was raised around Rottys and luv each dogs for their unique personalitys.. One thing they dont tell you about these so called "bully Breeds" is that they are great family dogs. They are loyal companions and luv kids. I luv big dogs, my family luvs our couch stealers, and they luv us & life. So why does some stiff neck get to decide who can be a part of my family? Then look at me and judge me as a bad parent because they think that the "SUPER DROOL GIRLS" are dangerous to society.. Tell me why ? My dog wouldnt hurt a flea- I mean that literally"shes to fat".. ;)

I agree with punish the deed not the breed. I have two American Akitas and they are on the list also. I have a problem with owners who abuse, mistreat or simply don't train and socialize their pets. I have a neighbor to my left who has a Pit and he grew up with my female Akita and they are buddies. On the other hand I have a neighbor across the street who has bred his two Pits and they are not socialized or trained. I have had his male come in my driveway charging my son and I as we were leaving to take him to school. After I called Animal Control he put up a privacy fence yet he still engages in ignorant behavior. He takes the mother for a walk on the leash and lets her litter run behind them in the street while other people walk their dogs. We are lucky the dogs haven't been hit by a car or worse by having an altercation with someone else walking their dog. These are the kind of people we are working against. They are the reason any breed has a bad reputation. You must socialize and train your dogs. Both of mine have went through training at an expense of over $1400.00 with me being taught how to train them. They are great around people and other dogs. I invested in them when I bought them so why would I not invest time and money to make sure they are a positive influence in society. It is the owner not the breed.

I agree with you Hailey people are never responsible for their actions . It is insane that the dogs have to suffer because people are fighting their dogs. I can not believe that punishing the dog is the solution to the problem.

Hey Jim Thomas, are you just in this group to annoy the other people? I have a better idea about where you should put your gun.

Getting back to the REAL topic here, it's the owners who are the problem, not the dogs. When are people going to realize that educating the owners, not killing the dogs is the way to go?

you guys want to know what i just thought of?? people in this world want to kill all the "bad" breeds such as pits, staffies, rotties, chows, ect.....when not all the dogs in the breed are bad, and when they are it is the owners fault! but its the same with people! there are alot more bad people in this world than there are dogs, and yet only sometimes do we put people to death for what they do depending on what it was that they did....i dont understand why they dont just put the owners to death instead of the dogs.

I just got a letter from my homeowners insurance carrier saying they are non-renewing my policy because I have a "pit bull." I don't have a pit bull, I have a Boxer/Rottweiler mix, which I told them about. Apparently, any animal on "The List" is referred to as a "pit bull" in correspondence. How absurd! Ignorance is certainly running amok in Florida.

I had to put my dog(best friend) down barely a month and a have ago. Is it normal for me to still cry all night? I've been looking for a new dog even though I won't be able to get one for quite some time. Is what I'm feeling normal?
