MANY PHOTOS!

WASHINGTON,DC (RUSHPRNEWS) AUGUST 28,2008–The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released an official complaint stating that the contract laboratory investigated by PETA in 2002 and 2003, which was employed by pet-food manufacturer Iams, “has shown a lack of good faith.”
The government complaint alleges that the following violations, among others, were documented by government inspectors at the contract laboratory from 2002 to 2005:
Failure to provide pain relief to sheep used in experiments that caused pain or distress
Failure to ensure that personnel were trained to perform experiments on animals
Failure to provide veterinary care and to observe animals daily
Failure to properly ventilate housing facilities for dogs and cats
Failure to house cats with a sufficient number of litterboxes and resting surfaces
Failure to keep animal-housing facilities clean and in good repair, resulting in injuries
Failure to maintain comfortable temperatures in animal-housing facilities
Failure to provide animals with sufficient space.

Was Iams one of the companies that had poison in their food two years ago? Or was that 1 1/2 years ago? I could look up my vet bill for when my Hannah was poisoned, but that was with Nutro. However, several companies were involved because they buy cheap, inferior grade products from China to add to their food. The ASPCA should have a list of the foods and companies, somewhere. I know they have sent me updates, along.
Which makes me wonder if there is a group or discussion going somewhere on the poison cases. I know I can't get my medical bills paid for because I was told by Nutro that I needed to "save the can." Never mind that she was posioned 3 weeks before they came clean after being exposed - and who hangs onto a can for 3 weeks when you dont know that was what almost killed her!
But, that is my problem. Here, we are looking at another. Iam needs to drop this company faster than Nike dropped M. Vick if they want to continue selling their product!

I have a TON of info on Iams if you are interested. I even have an email, (which is a glossy brochure with wonderful looking actors and actresses and healthy pets. BOOH!) Iams also makes Eukanuba. They did recall some of their products (wet), I think about 1 1/2 yrs ago.

They need to be shut down period! They have no business having these dogs if they can't care for the properly. How dare them!

I was not aware of NUTRO poisoning any dogs.Thats what i feed our puppy, here is some info on this subject I found.

Nutro Products Quality

A June 23, 2008 posting on ConsumerAffairs.com falsely claims that NUTRO™ pet foods may have been the cause of pet health issues in a number of specific cases. Every NUTRO™ product that was analyzed in relation to the June 23 posting on ConsumerAffairs.com has been shown to be safe. It should be noted that in some of these cases outside sources have provided clear verification that NUTRO™’s products were NOT the cause of any pet health issues. In others, NUTRO™ has taken active steps to address pet owners' concerns and determine the cause of pet health issues. While we continue in our efforts to contact owners there is nothing that indicates that these pet health issues were caused by NUTRO™ pet foods.

While consumer concerns about NUTRO™ product quality are rare, we take every complaint seriously. When we learn of an issue, we work with consumers to obtain information and request that samples of any product in question be submitted for testing at an independent facility. An in-depth review is performed to determine if an issue does exist. Consumers with questions or concerns about NUTRO™ products are encouraged to contact our Consumer Services Department at 1-800-833-5330.

NUTRO™ Products, Inc. remains committed to the quality, safety and performance of all our pet food brands. As we have for over 80 years, we strive to deliver the finest natural products to our customers and their pets.

First of all why is it everything that is posted on the internet that has to do with Peta date as far back as 2003 and 2005. That was 3 to 5 years ago. If videos on things that were going on that long ago are still being watched, than what is going on NOW. Has anything in the last 3 to 5 years been done about what the video is showing as cruelty? Second of all, this video didn't show anything about what they were doing to the animals. The dogs were in cages that obviously weren't comfortable for their feet. They were mainly in cages by themselves so they were lonely. None of the dogs were in cages too small for their size. I don't understand what this video is suppose to be showing. If anything it makes the claim of cruelty seem wrong. All the workers in the video showed consideration and gentleness to the animals. ANY AND EVERY Animal in a research lab is unhappy, it is not the ideal place for a dog or cat. They need human interaction, affection, exercise and socialization with his own kind. I don't agree with animal labs for any reason, but this video does not show this lab being cruel enough for anything to be done about it. What has been done about any of the cruel treatment in this lab? Aren't there any up to date videos or information about this lab available?

This was an updated news on August 28th and this is why it is posted if you went to the site you would have seen the date.

I didn't write the story or did the video.

First read the reply from Bullies2love, second did you not see the video with the muscles being cut from the beagles legs, and then the dogs being tossed on the floor? AND these things are STILL going on. Don't buy the shit. Tell your vet, and all the vet's in your area, your friends, people you meet at Chow Hound (or wherever you shop) that it is blood on their hands if they do. (Eukanuba is also made by Iams)

i totally agree that all dogs, whatever the breed, should be on a leash. i had a german shepard for 13 years and he was a gentle giant and very well trained. i had a pure pitbull for 10 years and she also was a gentle, sweet dog. i now have a pitbul…
