My dog, Honey Bear...
She wasn't technically a stray, but I kept her from becomming one...so, I guess that counts! :)
I was working at this animal hospital in St. Charles, MO. Other than the clinic, we also had boarding sevices. Memorial Day weekend 1 yr ago, Honey Bear was boarding(she was one of our regulars). When it came time for her owner to pick her up, we got a phone call. Honey Bear has really bad seperation anxiety and will tear things up...I guess before the weekend she boarded she had gotten out of her kennel and tore up the couch. Her owner said she couldn't keep her anymore because she wasn't just tearing up her things, but her rootmates things as well. She asked if we knew of any no-kill shelters in the area because she was afraid since Honey Bear was part pitbull, that she'd be euthanized. Everyone began talking about who could take her home or find her a home. Since Honey Bear had been a regular boarder, and I knew her (and she knew me)I decided to give it a shot...and, well....she's the best dog I've ever had. I take her everywhere with me and she absolutely LOVES it :) Before I got laid off from my job, due to the economy, she went to work with me everyday as well. She truely is my best friend....here's a pic of her....it doesn't due her justice...I'll have to post a new one when I get it :)

Listen, I agree.. we have to do something. We can't let horses suffer from neglect just because owners don't want them anymore and they don't know what to do with them. I totally see your point.
