Fish are not stupid. Fish are alot more intelligent than people think. I've seen my fish do great things. I love them. I'm a fish nut lol.

I'm partial to Angelfish, but we now have pirahna in our 58 gallon tank. They are finally beginning to become accustomed to our presence. They were about the size of quarters when we bought them 2 years ago, now they are about 5-6 inches long. Learning as we go.
We also have a large koi pond in the back yard. We lost most of the large fish to a murderous blue heron. I was beginning to scan the internet for recipes for roast heron. Oddly, the only successful deterrent was an aligator head. The floating aligator head, complete with sparkly eyes, scares the bird away. Sounds stupid, but it worked.

I have had three bettas so far and they are all such jewells, ( one jumps thru a hoop! ) but I can never determine what gender they are. Twinkle, my current betta, was marked F for female on the box she came in, but she looks and acts like a male. What on earth is going on here?!

Comment by Erin S on February 21, 2009 at 2:57pm - help! im having problems with my fish, so far i have had 2 fish die because of Pop eye and i don't know how to prevent or treat it! is there anyone that can help. i just lost my Elvis last night, he was a jewel cichlid and thats the second cichlid i lost. also my other jewel that i thought was a boy is actually a girl and laid eggs but since elvis died she isn't gaurding them like she should and the pleco is eating them i think, there aren't many left anymore! :'(
