Fail: Burglar picks home of police dog squad officer to rob

Article from:
Robyn Ironside

THERE are 124 houses in Chad McLeod's street in Sherwood and, of all of them, an alleged teenage burglar picked the one owned by a police dog squad officer.
The Toowoomba dog squad senior-constable became aware of the intruder at 2.50am yesterday.
"I came outside and there was old mate walking out the driveway and up the street," Sen-Constable McLeod said.
"I saw the passenger door of my car open in the garage and the internal door to the house. I said words to the effect of 'I want to talk to you' and he swore at me and took off."
But the alleged offender did not count on Sen-Constable McLeod's offsider – two-year-old Xero.
"He was out the back in his kennel, so I went and got him and started tracking him," he said.
The youth was found just over a block away and was quickly tracked by the german shepherd – son of legendary police dog Ike.
As Sen-Constable McLeod (pictured) arrested the alleged culprit, he told him "you picked the wrong house".
"It's one of those things you joke about with your colleagues, but you never really think it will happen," he said.
Police charged a 17-year-old man with entering a dwelling with intent, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and stealing.
He is also being investigated for graffiti attacks at nearby Graceville train station.
Sen-Constable McLeod said Xero was happy with his efforts.
Another alleged offender was arrested at Graceville yesterday – by an off-duty police officer.
Police said the officer disturbed the offender breaking into his neighbour's house at about 11am.
"Perhaps there are just a lot of police living in this part of Brisbane," Sherwood police station's Sergeant David Hardik

Yes once bitten there is no turning back doglover born at that very moment it happend to me that way or maybe it was before I was bitten by a German Shepard as a kid. It was a nervous dog and I was running not away from the dog we were out playing in the street and the dog had somehow got out of the garden I diden´t realy feel anything but was bitten in the calf of my leg it became infected. I still have the scars but not the fear. Superb shepard I must say dogs are the best.
