The city of Des Moines, Iowa wants to kill my dog because he is a pitbull. They think he is a "Vicious Dog" because of his specific breed. Which, in turn, makes him a "Dangerous Animal" and subject to a city ordinance that will allow them to murder my innocent dog.
I have appealed this judgement and must now appear before the city council...but I can't plead my case, I can't introduce any new evidence which includes all the letters I've collected from my community about what a great dog Mojo is. So my plan is e-mails and mailing pictures and letters to the city council members before the meeting. Thank goodness it's my civic right to contact them directly. I would appritiate any advice or letters I could send off to them.
Please, I am begging, anyone who cares to write a letter and e-mail it to me so I can send them. I'm hoping this will change her decision to kill Mojo. If they can understand that he has impacted so many people and has so many friends.
I have owned my pit since he was 4 weeks old, he is now 5 years now. My neighbors small dog attacked him and my dog bite him, a warning bite to say the least. No significant injuries, no stitches, and neither dog was on a leash (it happened in the hallway of my apartment) So now they want to destroy my dog because my neighbors LIED and said the bite was unprovoked.
I am working on getting an attorney but right now I'm writing, making phone calls, e-mailing, and begging for help.
HELP ME SHED THE LIGHT All I need is just two sentences, two paragraphs ANYTHING!!!

He has been in the pound for a month now.They won't let me see him and I know he is so scared! They don’t walk him, he has an automatic feeder and the only time they take him out is to clean the tiny kennel. That’s the only social interaction he has! He belongs on my couch, taking a nap!

Well I think I've held it all in long enough, and really I kick myself in the butt for not opening my mouth louder and stronger while it was all going on. I live in Pensacola Fl. and I have to say from the hell hole of gulf breeze I just got away from we are doing better. But nothing can change the loss suffered due to the ignorance and discriminating, fake people that live and work there. One neighborhood rallied against myself and my pit simply because we were not like them. They caused so much drama over my dog getting out in the neighborhood a couple of times at which time he only wanted to play with someone!! Everyone banned together and lied--bold face--lied that he had attacked them, they feared him, yet no one ever came to me with a doctor bill, a complaint, nothing, they just called animal control and let the compaints add up. Until 3,000.00 dollars later in fines and court costs, they took my dog to jail. For no reason---they were trying to deem him vicious---this is right before xmas, the kids where crushed--I was besides myself, he was my little boy. They wouldnt let us visit him, nothing for a month. I went to court and showed the judge I had built an enclosure he had to be kept in along with all these other rules if I wanted to keep him. Muzzles and locks on the cage and so much. When really if these people had just stopped for one second and pet him they would have seen and loved him as we did. Unfortunatley, I still think my neighbors set me up but one night about 10;30 we all are asleep, I awake to cops in my home stateing my door was found open and my dog had got out, and basically told me if I didn't sign him over to them they would file felony charges on me and arrest me. I am a mother of 2 girls, with no way to fight the wrongs of this community but they took from me something that is not replacable. And had no right, no history of any bites, problems, bad behavior, in fact his vet and many others wrote letters I showed to the judge regarding the personality and loving nature of this dog. He loved cats, ferretts, puppies, anything that would love him back. I wish I could have done something to stop the injustice of this community and it's law enforcement officers. But one thing I do believe and that is that Karma is a bi-ch!
