Styles, you obviously never had the guts to tell me that directly? I stand by my statement. Pit Bulls are bred with aggressive tendancies and is hard wired. Not every pit bull possesses them, but many do and I agree with Billy.. if you pretend it doesn't exist, you have done your dog no favor and yes, you're an accident AND TRAGEDY waiting to happen.

Just because a pit may have aggressive tendancies does not mean that they can't be a great dog. Of course they can.. they just need a smarter owner who understands it. It's the clueless ones like Styles who give these dogs a bad name because they don't respect and recognize what these dogs are capable of.

Dogs are bred with tendancies and behaviors. Border collies like to herd, German Shepherds are bred to protect and defend, Sighthounds all have natural instincts and abilities. It's what we breed dogs for.. to enhance these traits and characteristics.

Pit Bulls are no different.

I'm really very sorry to have to tell you folks that say pits have no aggressive tendencies. You are an accident waiting for a place to happen. Pits are dog aggressive. I have 2 and they have never been abused or fought but they absolutely can not be left alone with other dogs. They may get along well at first but then things can explode in a second. My dogs are sisters and they will fight each other at times.Pits have been bred for over a hundred years to be dog aggressive. True APBT will be dog aggressive just as they will have big bulldog smiles and wigglin butts. This is the very reason pit bulls are not for everyone. You must respect the dog and be ready for any eventuality.
To deny your dogs heritage is set yourself and your dog up for failure.

I agree with Styles...the aggression thing is total bull! My dog has never ever shown aggression to any other human or animal ever!!! If a pitbull or any other dog for that matter, shows aggression it is ENTIRELY the owners fault! By the way Belles, have you ever seen those small teacup dogs snap at every person that even passes by their owner? You're probably not as intimidated by that because they are so small, but they are usually (not always) way more aggressive than Pits. Again probably irresponsible owners who treat them like a fashion statement than a live animal... My Vet even said she'd rather handle a pit or rotty then a yorkie anyday!!!!

I grew up with full blooded pits...3 of them at 1 time...and now am pan owner of 2 chi's...(PS Pits have been know 2 kill chi"s)These dogs are not for the weak at heart. Yes.... their strenth sould be respected....but their heart and loyalty need to be recognized.....they are the best pets and need to be loved...I beleve people take advantage of thier power and just use it!!!! The pits bull will always be a part of my life, since childhood and I may own one someday soon...THE PIT IS MISREAD AND MISTREATED!!!! I LOVE THE BREAD.......

Stray Pit Bull Saves Woman, Child from Attacker



PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- The wandering 65-pound Pit Bull mix might have seemed menacing to some passerby, but one woman will always remember him as her "guardian angel."

The dog, which authorities think is lost and not a stray, successfully thwarted a robbery attack on a mother and her 2-year-old son, who were held at knifepoint Monday afternoon.

The Florida woman, who has been identified by authorities simply as "Angela," was leaving a playground with her toddler son in Port Charlotte when a man approached her in the parking lot with a knife and told her not to make any noise or sudden movements.

Angela didn't have to do either to protect herself and her child -- a dog mysteriously ran to the scene and charged the man, who quickly fled.

"I don't think the dog physically attacked the man, but he went at him and was showing signs of aggression, just baring his teeth and growling and barking. It was clear he was trying to defend this woman," Animal Control Lt. Brian Jones told Pet Pulse.

"I don't know what this man's intentions were, but it is very possible this dog saved her life."

The exceptional part of the story, Jones said, is that the dog had never met or even seen the people it quickly jumped to defend.

"You hear about family dogs protecting their owners, but this dog had nothing to do with this woman or her kid," Jones said. "He was like her guardian angel."

After the alleged thief ran away, Angela quickly placed her son, Jordan, in the car and tried to drive off. Before she could, though, the dog jumped into her backseat, waiting with her for the police and animal control officers to arrive at the scene.

The dog was transported to a local shelter and if his owners don't step forward within five days, Jones said, Angela and her family plan to adopt the savior she named "Angel."

Animal control officers and shelter workers believe Angel is lost, and not a stray, because of his good health, sturdy weight and mild temperament.

"It's funny, that someone's irresponsibility could have saved someone's life," Jones said of Angel's possible owners.

For Angela, it doesn't matter where the dog came from, just that he was there when she needed him most.

"I don't know what his [the thief's] intentions were -- I don't know why he did it, but I'm glad that -- we call him Angel -- I'm glad that Angel showed up because I don't know what would have happened," Angela told NBC2 News.

Or, better yet, gather your PB-lovin' Pack and contact your local vets, shelters, groomers, pet supplies stores, etc. about offering PB educational material for their customers. Help turn their fear into curiosity!

On my way to my son’s open house, I turned on my radio tuned to 102.5 The Bone.(vinal) 6pm. I was blow away when they were joking about PIT BULLS saying the only good pit bull was on e you yanked the teeth out of!!! They were bragging pit bull are an abomination from hell and they were all for B.S.L. I was already blown away when they just kept going on and on and on! "You only hear about pit bull when they terrorize people" "the world would be a safer place" "No pit Bull ever saved a child" "Just listen to the news!" By then , I just had enough and turned my radio off! Lets e-mail this station and demand they stop bashing the breeds and show them that it’s not only the pit bulls. Show them the list of 75 breeds to be affected! I hope they have a husky! Or a pug for that matter! Show them it will affect them. We were able to get verizon to take that pit bull commercial off the air, we saved those pigs from being electricuted at the doctor’s convention(over 5,000 e-mails to hotel in 1 1/2 days!) YOUR VIOCE DOES COUNT! LET THEM SEE LETTERS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY! THE WORLD, FOR THAT MATTER!!
