Ursa Freedom Project is a long way from today's fundraising goal to build two bear houses for tortured bears at the Animals Asia sanctuary in Vietnam. Let's help the campaign!

And spread the word! They need our help.

BLM rejects Pickens plan to save Wild Horses!

Let the BLM and your Rep's know that you support her plan and to not fight it! Contact Obama, your local news, etc. (see below under "Take Action") We cannot let the BLM do this! Act today!

How stupid can the BLM possibly be – they are determined to kill these horses!

Excellent article! From Las Vegas City Life - 3/5/09

Earthjustice Action Alert: Stop the Leasing of "Polar Bear Seas"

Global warming has hurt the homeland of America's polar bears
more than any other place on earth. So, why is our government
about to lease more than 73 million acres of this vulnerable
area to industrial oil and gas development?
The answer is all too familiar -- Bush. On his way out of
office, he told the Minerals Management Service to fast-track
this lease program without measuring its devastating potential
on the endangered species and native communities that live
there.
Fortunately, President Obama is alert to this scheme and can use
our support in stopping it. He has given us until March 30 to
comment. Lets do it now!
Tell the MMS to take a time out. Send an email with this
message: Keep the drillers out of our Arctic. Stop this leasing
program before it partners up with global warming to destroy and
disrupt.

HSUS International Action Alert: Show support for an EU ban on seal product trade

The European Union is considering a ban on trade in seal
products. Ten countries have already ended their trade in seal
products or announced their plans to do so. By closing down
markets for seal products, we can ensure no more seals are
clubbed or shot for their fur.
I hope you'll sign a petition in support of an EU ban on trade
in seal products. It will only take a minute. Thank you for
joining me in working to end cruel seal hunts. Here is the link:

HSUS International Action Alert: Help stop shark finning!

I just took action online to join fashion photographer and
"America's Next Top Model" judge Nigel Barker in working to help
stop the cruel and needless practice of shark finning.
Each year, millions of sharks are hunted, have their fins sliced
off, and then are thrown back into the ocean, dead or dying, to
satisfy the human appetite for shark fin soup and other dishes
made from shark fin. Shark fin soup is sometimes served at
Chinese New Year celebrations, weddings, and other events. Shark
fin is almost flavorless and may contain high levels of mercury.
This is a practice we can no longer afford. Shark species are
endangered and, as apex predators, are vital to marine
ecosystems. Please join Nigel and me in pledging never to
consume or serve shark fin.
It will only take a minute. Here is the link:

NRDC URGENT Action Alert: Let's create a huge howl to save wolves

The fate of Yellowstone's wolves is hanging in the balance right
now.
Hundreds of wolves got a last-minute reprieve when President
Obama put a freeze on on Bush's midnight rule that would have
stripped wolves in the Northern Rockies of their endangered
species protection -- leaving them vulnerable to mass killing.
But this "stay of execution" is only temporary, pending review
by the new Interior Secretary.
Now we must rush into action -- and convince Interior Secretary
Salazar to reverse Bush's deadly policy and maintain strong
federal protection for wolves.
Please make your own voice heard. Send your Citizen Petition to
Save Wolves to the Interior Secretary now.

MANY NEW ACTIONS ABOVE! Please help by doing as many as you can... its easy!

Defenders of Wildlife Action Alert: Help Reverse the Bush Assault on Endangered Species

Before leaving office, the Bush Administration rammed through a regulatory change to the Endangered Species Act that would threaten efforts to save polar bears, wolves, manatees and nearly 1,200 other species from extinction.
Now it’s up to Congress to clean up the mess left by the Bush/Cheney Administration. Will you help?
House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) introduced a resolution (H.J. Res. 18) that would overturn the Bush Administration’s 11th hour attempt to undermine the Endangered Species Act. But he needs the support of your Representative to pass it.

Please write your Representative now and urge him or her to stand up for America’s endangered wildlife by co-sponsoring H.J. Res. 18.

Earthjustice Action Alert: Tell EPA to Control CO2

Should the EPA force a monster proposed coal-fired power plant
to control 12.7 million tons of carbon dioxide it will spew out
each year? The Obama-led EPA is asking Americans to tell it what
to do.

Take action by February 23rd -- Tell the EPA to place the
strictest-possible controls on the Desert Rock power plant.

The Wilderness Society Action Alert: Just say no to more roads in Modoc National Forest!

The Modoc National Forest is a beautiful and serene place, but an overabundance of damaging roads that contribute to noise, erosion and other problems is threatening the forest's health and tranquility.

Tell the Forest Service not to go forward with its plan to add even more roads.

National Parks Conservation Association Action: Create Jobs While Reinvesting in National Parks

House leaders have proposed to give our economy and national parks a real boost. They've included $2.25 billion dollars in job creating ready-to-go projects as part of their proposed economic recovery package. This is big news. The proposal would create nearly 50,000 jobs in rural and urban communities nationwide to help our economy and give the national parks the boost they need as we approach the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. With your encouragement, we can make sure this proposal moves forward.
Write your representative and let them know you support this effort on behalf of our national parks, and make sure they work with their colleagues in the Senate to do the same.

Take action!
