Defenders of Wildlife Action: Help Us End Aerial Hunting of Alaska’s Wolves

Over the past four years, Alaska’s aerial killing program has claimed the lives of more than 800 hundred wolves. State-permitted aerial hunters and pilots are once again targeting wolves, and we need you help to stop them.
Take Action
Fill out the form below to send a message to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin urging her to end the state’s unfounded aerial wolf-killing program immediately.

An action for each of us to do:

This is for wild horses and also pretty much everything else we all care about, so I may post it in a few places. Please do this today... its so easy.

Use this online form on the Obama-Biden transition website to add your comments/views on who he should appoint to important postiions such as The Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture:

http://change.gov/page/s/yourvision

If you don't have time to get to the discussion link I just sent for more info, here is the bottom line: You can add this alone to the online form if you are pressed for time:

For the The Secretary of the Interior, the best candidates for this position are Representatives Raúl Grijalva and Jay Inslee and former Interior Department Deputy Secretary David Hayes. Conversely, we oppose Representative John Salazar, as he has been hostile to a wide range of animal protection policies.

For the Secretary of Agriculture: John Boyd Jr., founder and president of the National Black Farmers Association, and former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack, would be excellent choices for this post. However, we strongly object to former Representative Charlie Stenholm, who has been extremely hostile to even the most modest animal protection reforms, and has been a paid lobbyist for the factory farming and horse slaughter industries.

see discussion on wild horses above for more detail...

NWF Action Alert: Help Protect Wildlife from Global Warming!

Want to help me get our new Congress off to a good start? As global warming is already the single greatest threat to wildlife and the natural resources we all depend on, we must help ensure that any legislation introduced in the halls of Congress to confront global warming includes the strong protections needed to help wildlife and natural resources survive global warming.
I just sent a letter to the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce urging them to include strong protections for wildlife and natural resources when drafting global warming legislation. I was hoping you could take just a minute today to do the same!

Wild horse victory, but we still have to continue the fight for better management by the BLM

Many of you have probably heard by now about the plan to save the wild horses by Madeleine Pickens. I was waiting for a reply from the president of the wild horse group here before I posted anything on it. It sounds wonderful and we all hope it works out.

BUT, we have to continue to fight the BLM on how they manage wild horses. This victory is huge, but the fight continues to save the wild horses.
