Environmental Defense Fund action alert
The world's fisheries are in serious trouble.
Most have declined precipitously for decades, and U.S. fisheries
have fared little better.
Barely one quarter of our fisheries are known to be sustainable.
Thousands of fishermen have lost their jobs.
The good news is that new science points the way to recovery.
Science-based catch shares have been proven to make fish more
abundant and fisheries more profitable.

Join me in supporting better fisheries management.

Sign the petition to tell President-Elect Obama to restore America's leadership in wildlife conservation!

The Bush/Cheney Administration has taken its toll on our wildlife and wild places. But all that could change with a newly elected president.
I just signed a petition urging President-Elect Obama to renew America's committment to our wildlife and wild places -- you can, too, by visiting this web site:

http://action.defenders.org/newpresidentagenda

After nearly a decade of assaults on our natural heritage, the newly elected Obama Administration has an opportunity to provide leadership to fix the damage done -- and move forward to address the biggest threat to wildlife and wild places: global warming.
(the Bush administration is STILL making changes in environmental regulations that will be detrimental to wildlife, wild places, and to us... like allowing Uranium mining 3 miles next to the Grand Canyon. That affects the water in the Colorado River which provides all of the drinking water for the Southwest... including mine! This is a crime. They are leaving a horrible mess for Obama. We all have to be very active to do all we can to help. The NRDC is a good org to join and donate to as well since they use the courts to fight the govermnent from doing this kind of assault)

Action Alert: Promote responsible energy corridor development (Wilderness Society)Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Arches National
Park. Roadless areas throughout the West. These are some of many
spectacular places that may be directly affected by the
construction of massive oil and natural gas pipelines, as well
as high-capacity electric transmission lines in the near future.
According to the federal government's final plan for West-wide
Energy Corridors, which is expected to be released in November,
these energy corridors would cut through or skirt the borders of
these wondrous western areas

Don't let it happen. Click the link below.

Defenders of Wildlife Action Alert

Earlier this week, the Bush/Cheney Administration launched another attack on wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies -- re-packaging a proposal that could lead to the killing of as many as 1,000 of America’s most important and iconic animals.
Take action now. Tell the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that our wolves deserve a lasting future in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies.
Following several bloody months of wolf killing in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, a federal court ruled earlier this year against an earlier version of the Administration’s proposal to remove Endangered Species Act protections for the region’s wolves. In response, the Bush/Cheney Administration actually withdrew that proposal just a few weeks ago.
But with the clock winding down on the Bush/Administration, federal officials are launching a last-ditch attempt to re-package and ram through a plan that could lead to the slaughter of as many as two-thirds of the Greater Yellowstone and Northern Rockies wolf population.
Don’t let them get away with it. Urge federal officials to come up with a responsible management plan that ensures a lasting future for these majestic animals.
Time and time again, Defenders of Wildlife has been at the forefront of efforts to save wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies, fighting -- and winning -- in court, on the ground and in Congress to ensure responsible, balanced management of our wolves.
In the last two years, caring people like you have sent tens of thousands of messages, made thousands of calls, and donated to help us fight the Bush/Cheney Administration and their allies in court, educate the public and support wolf-saving efforts in the field.

Help us safeguard wolves. Take action now.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much time to stop this audacious 11th-hour sneak attack on our wolves. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is only accepting public comments until November 28th, so please take action now.

Action for Big Cat Rescue:
The bengal tiger mascot of the University of Memphis (Tennessee), Tom II, has died at age 17 of cancer.
The Highland Hundred Booster Club will be making a decision regarding selecting a new mascot in the very near future.
Please take a moment to write to University officials, the Booster Club President, and several corporate Club sponsors to let them know that replacing Tom II with another tiger supports the captive exotic cat trade and is a disasterous decision.

Defenders of Wildlife:
Alaska's Cook Inlet belugas could disappear within our lifetime. This genetically unique population once numbered around 1,300 in the early 1990s -- and now there are fewer than 400 left!
But there is hope...
I just took action to urge federal officials to stop dragging their feet and support a plan to list these creatures as "endangered" under the Endangered Species Act -- and you can, too. Just go to the
website below:

That's how I did it.. with the patch. Some people smoke for the oral satisfaction.. so gum might work better for them. That worked for my son, who has quit long ago.

No gift in the world as seeing a compassion story such as this. This is what Christmas is about. Not the gifts or even the food. It is the compassion to make a difference in someones life either it be an animal or a person.
