Profile Information

My website or blog:
http://advocateforsoldiersrights.webs.com
Proud pet parent of:
An American Bulldog, 60 pound GORGEOUS blue and brown eyed white and brindle named Stormy, has already showed so many skills as my orthopedic service dog,as well as a PTSD service dog that surprisingly sh did on her own.. as my needs have changed. I have a damaged sciatic nerve thanks to an idiot doctor, who had the stupidness of admitting it. I have to get a full orthotic prosthetic leg brace with recessed joints in case my leg gives out. Stormy is VERY intelligeny and very verbal... she talks to me all the time.
How we met:
Adopted at the West Valley Shelter, Los Angeles County
Pet likes:
Chew toys, being right next to me, and helping me out constantly
Pet dislikes:
cold weather, and people that show rudeness, or anger toward me. Also if someone shows any violent motion toward me, and I have Stormy with me...... you may lose your rear end..... or if you are a guy... hahaha.. Stormy because she can go from an F1 Tornado to an F5 protecting me
Pet’s favorite spot:
Dozing off in my lap, or laying on my bed
Pet’s favorite toy:
Kongs, and her stuffed squirrel, and her tug of war rope
Pet’s silliest habit:
Going nuts over her "Everlasting Treatball"
Pet’s sweetest moments:
She will get up on my bed, and sleep either at my feet or try to get by my side if she senses I am in massive pain, or having PTSD related nightmares.
I crack up when my pet:
falls off the bed.
My pet is unique because:
She already shows the skills necessary to help me as my service dog. She talks and tells me when it is potty time, and she cannot be anywhere without me. She actually noticed a guy behind me in grocery store that didn't know what personal spae was, and she sniffed him, looked at him, she sat, and then pushed him back about 2 feet. The guy was surprised, but I told him to read her patches, and one says PTSD Service Dog, Not all wounds are visible, and proudly served. He then appologized.
STILL fighting for my disability rights since the Army screwed up and didn't follow their own regulations.

Stormy

Stormy, my American Bulldog, shows so much promise as a service dog already.. she knows about my bad leg, and keeps me stable always, and she also knows about my anxiety/etc... She is so very intelligent. She shows awesome skill improvements on what tasks I teach her.

Awesome news

Belle has been completely cleared, and registered as my service dog. Her vest, patches, service dog cards, ID, and a NICE 30 inch lead are on the way this week!!!! Major step for her and myself. I have been taking her with me lately, and she has shown the absolute best behavior. When I go to the counter at a store, she will, without command, sit right there right by my feet. She has also shown some new behaviors that are wonderful. She definitely knows if I am unstable on my feet, and will block… Continue

Wondering

I have now been told by my County Animal Reg people that my dog needs to have some sort of certificate of training, when I had understood that had not been needed, in order for her to be my service dog. I have a hard time asking for assistance or help for anything. I am a Disabled US Army Combat Medic, 4 years in service, and my father has taken me in, and I have been fighting with the Department of the Army, due to non compliance in accordance with Army Regulations, (sent them a 2 inch thick pa… Continue

I can send you a paper on "Service Dogs" I also have a Sevice Dog I trained myself for the same reasons you have explaines yourself. This is one sentence explained in a legal definition..what is a service dog? The ADA describes a service dog as ANY guide dog, signal dog ,helper dog,or any other animal trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability. If they meet this definition, animals are considered service animals under the ADA regardless of whether they have been licensed OR certified by a state or local government. Could you please call me.My name is Anne 320-217-2331 I went through same thing. I got my dog into my apartment just with Doctors papers and vet papers...he is a legal companion dog ,I can get legal companion tags and cards for total of 60.00 if I choose. Talk soon.
