Profile Information

Proud pet parent of:
Black stubby cat-Raven (RIP 02/09/2008)
Rescued German Shepherd-Sargeant
Chester (02/27/1992-07/09/2007)
Mein Hund ist ein Deutsch Schäfer.
How we met:
I had a search on Petfinder, I got a notice that the Michigan German Shepherd Rescue had a pup that fit my search. I went to his foster Mom's house to meet him, and it was love at first sight for the both of us. Sargeant came to live with us that day.
Pet likes:
Sargeant likes to play, play, play, and take walks. The dog park is a new favorite.
Pet dislikes:
Sargeant does not like to walk on the ice. Guess I will not be able to get him to play hockey. He also does not like to be away from me, my husband says when I leave, Sargeant waits at the window until I come home. Of course I do not like being away from Sargeant either.
Pet’s favorite spot:
Sargeant likes to run around the backyard, especially if someone is outside with him or he is chasing squirrels. The dog park is a favorite place too.
Pet’s favorite toy:
Sargeant likes just about any toy, especially if it is something you can throw or kick & he can chase.
Pet’s silliest habit:
Sargeant is still a pup & has a lot of silly habits. He seems to have a lot of "scratch spots" that make his back leg "go". He can even get his back leg going all by himself. I can even get both back legs going at the same time. My daughter says he is riding his bike.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
When Sargeant cocks his head to one side.
I crack up when my pet:
Sargeant's "bike riding" is pretty funny.
My pet is unique because:
Sargeant has the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen in a dog, and his intelligence shines right through them. Just look into his eyes, you can see the intellegence.
Plus he is mine.

Unwanted

After Sargeant came to live with us, I told my husband it was his turn, we could start looking for that bulldog he wanted. Since we are people who will only adopt (it took a number of years to find Sargeant, today, finding a purebred dog is much easier), we have been having problems finding one. The ones in shelters are picked up quickly and most rescues will only adopt to people in their area. The animal shelter we have here in Hastings puts an ad in the weekly paper noting some of the dogs and… Continue

A Dog's Purpose
(from a 6-year-old)

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying.

Yep...it's getting Sasha's time of year. She is the only one in the house that loves it when it snows...lol. Never heard of it being called snow plowing..that's a good description...

Thanks for the welcome. Yes Sasha does love the snow. She could play in it for hours. One of her favorite things to do is burrow her nose through the snow and then give you wet snow kisses.

The only groups I have are Animals First and we have a private room called The Oasis. You are welcome at both.

Did you know Beth and Liddy have both been banned? They went after HaleyBear and were mean to her.. they crossed the line. Haley is only 14 and they crossed the line. We turned them in for the gazillionth time.. now they are gone.

Which group.. Animals First? I thought you had access. If not, come on over, I'll approve you. Didn't mean to close you out of it.. if so, I apologize!! It's really open to anyone that isn't a problem-child.

Wasn't sure how much you wanted to be involved in this Liddy and Beth debacle, but if you want to come into the Oasis, you are always welcome there as well. It is just a place to talk without disruption. Let me know, I'll send you an invite. Sometimes it gets out of control. Not sure who you are talking about, but whatever anyone says to me is always confidential.

Christina, thank you I have tried with some of the Rotweiller web sites and they don't allow postings on there. They are looking to sell the pup for $300.00 and he is adorable. I will keep trying and if you hear of anyone, please send me an email. Thanks, Nancy

Yes, I do too. Their bio mother has publicly stated she doesn't want anything to do with them and they weren't really even his. How many ways can you mess up a child. It's sickening what these people have done to these children. I don't trust the mother either.. or the dad. They are a couple of control freaks and I think they are very greedy. I'm sure his death was the end of their gravy train.

I thought she really nailed it. I think for me, the saddest thing about him is not his death, but how his life has evolved. What a waste of talent - very frustrating. I'm actually looking forward to his memorial tomorrow. Won't watch it, but maybe we can say goodbye to all the TV shows dedicated to him.

Okay thanks. I haven't made the treats yet and since the garlic and onion stuff won't affect the taste I'll mark it out and share the rest of the recipe with you all and some others if you want them. That is if my dog like's them. ;b (he's picky)xb

I think that as long as they don't splinter they should be okay for the dog to eat.
