maybe it's an "I LOVE YOU" postcard.

Perhaps your dog is just licking the carpet. Just this morning I found my dog licking a bedsheet.

Anal sacs are a darker yellow color, and sometimes the dog can throw up Bile which is a dark yellow, which certainly does have a gross odor but the anal sacs are certainly worse smelling. When the anal sacs become clogged, the dog will sit down and…

I have had dogs that puked foam. I think maybe with all of the heaving maybe it foams up? If it happens a lot I would take him to the vet. If he's on meds, check out the side effects.

Thanks guys! It turns out that there was a lot of hair in whatever it was and wherever it came from. Can dogs get hairballs? Because that's sort of what it seems like, from my experience with cats. The vet was able to bump our appointment to tomorro…

Hi everyone. For the third time we are coming home to a mystery stain on the carpet. Twice this appeared in front of our back door, which is glass. Our dog can sit and look out, but he almost never is taken out of the house via this door. The third…

Belles, thanks! your posts are always so helpful! I will look into the behaviorist that will be very interesting and helpful. I am not really surprised that a dog would be possessive of toys to some extent - it's just that the behavior cropped up an…

Thanks so much! i wil try these suggestions - I very much appreciate it, especially as I have not had a dog for decades, so I'm rusty and out of date. Harry is so fun to work with, I think with patience and practice, we'll get there.

Agreed toy or food aggression is not healthy Liddy. But it can be a very normal CORRECTABLE problem, and that is what the op is asking help for. Often an adopted pups first months are called the honeymoon period as behaviors are not shown while the…

Hello, Many of you have given me good advice on my rescue dog, Harry. We got him almost two months ago. He is between 2 and 3 years old and clearly had been trained (sit/stay/down, even "fetch" and "drop it!") but we know nothing much else about his…

Hi Liz! I am glad you wrote because we adopted our Harry in July. He is a rescue dog somewhere between 2 and 3 in age and we have been toying with the idea of doing one of those tests too. Harry looks a lot like Augie - except he is tricolor (black,…

I know what you mean. I have a hands on rescue greyhound who was somewhat neglected when I picked him up. He had never been in a home before and to see him realise that the tv wasen´t going to haunt him and that it was nice and warm inside. having teeth brushed and tartar removed wasen´t going to kill him all these little things make you realise just how much they apriciate love and kindness. I am sure Harry is the same way. I look forward to hearing from you and Harry now and again. I am always avaliabel if you need help I will do my best to help out even if they are just words they come from the heart. Lots of kind regards to you both. God bless Lisbeth and the lads.

Hello Clareco and Harry. Just thought I would pop in to say congratualtions with your new family member. i have got three ex-racing greyhounds and one whippet. One of my greyhounds was found starving to death in Madrid Spain. He had not had an easy time of it. Tristan is my hands on rescue from last year December 2008. Darcy I picked up this year in Janurary. Mike my whippet has been with me since 2003. I love it when dogs settel in and blossom as you say the first time they dare to show affection ect. Once again congratulations and best wishes for all of you. Lisbeth and the lads.

Horse slaughter is needed. If you own horses and are dealing with the horse industry at the moment you will understand. The horses that go to slaughter may be dangerous, lame, or horses that are so malformed from bad breeding practices that they are…

Why pity our animals (I am her sister)? They are beautiful, healthy, and very happy horses. I agree that slaughter should be legalized I love my hroses, and if I saw a good horse ehaded to slaughter I would probably buy it. What are people supposed…

Annies.. horse breeding is a huge problem today. Far worse than it's ever been. But you're right, breeders should know better but they don't. Everyone thinks their mare, or stallion is fantastic.. but they aren't. Most of the time lineage is average…

Just because you don't does not ean it is wrong. People from India do not deand that we do not eat cow because they do not. You are not forced to eat any type of food. I had a teacher who ate it and he said that it was interesting. It is both sweete…

Megan, the problem (and sorry, I know this is an old post!!) is that there is an over-population of horses because of breeding. Also, there are horses bred for various reasons and they don't have a chance.. think of all the thoroughbreds born that n…

I do agree with that. In most places I have gone to the animals were in no distress. I am glad the farm near you was shut down if they were. I was able to go to a Jimmy Dean saughter plant, and they slaughtered in the most humane way that I think is…
