Yes you are exactly right. I have cut ties I changed my phone number and I do not speak to him at all. I agree completely any abuse towards an animal is outrageous and could lead to just about anything dangerous.
If you have those text messages saved, bring them, bring your vet bills and any other documents you may have. Good luck, I hate when this happens.. dogs cant speak up for themselves and say where they want to be, its heart breaking.

I found out ( from a vet ) that there is a way to update the info on the chip you will have to go to the vet do it but it atleast can be done

Yeah he verbally told me that my dog was a gift but he also brought that up that he will deny that right off the bat and I have no witnesses. Only a picture on my camera at Christmas time with me holding him by the tree. That's it!
