Hi my friend! Please stop by my page and see Phoenix. I have a few pics on the page there are a few more in the foster folder.

I am so happy that she is doing well, but sad that my time with her is almost done.

Opps. Just looked at map and realized that Dekalb is Northwest of me. I typed in No Kill shelters for Illinois and many came up. It breaks my heart to hear of situations like this. Your friend must be upset over the whole issue.

Glad to be friends. I take it you are owned by a horse or two. I raised two when I lived in Florida (back in the 70's), but simply not enough resources to own them here. Cats are my thing now.

Hi Neighbor, I'm just a bit north of you close to Joliet.

Have you tried Just Animals Shelter in Seneca - off I-80 between Starved Rock and Morris. They are a no kill shelter that may provide assistance. They have expanded their capacity to include placements at area PetSmarts. I'm so sorry to hear about the situation of your friend. I already have 3 cats and cannot take in any more for now. My hubby is not well and he is my priority. I hope you find something quickly for all.
Tracy.

Hello neighbor! So happy to have you on board.

I'm so on your side of the horse slaughter issue. Was glad to see Illinois did not open it again.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/maximum-penalty-for-the-men-who-hacked-up-a-puppy

Hi, I signed the petition "maximum penalty for the men who hacked up a puppy." I'm asking you to sign this petition to help us reach our goal of 100,000 signatures. I care deeply about this cause, and I hope you will support our efforts. Here are the basics of the case:

Hardened police officers have been shocked by the horrifying torture, mutilation and brutal slaying of a seven month old fox terrier puppy near Mackay at the weekend.

If found guilty, they could face up to two years in prison. Police have obtained video footage from a mobile phone which shows graphic images of the puppy yelping and howling in terrible pain as it hacked to pieces with garden shears and a pocked knife.

They said the owners were too distressed to talk to anyone about it.

The pups nose was cut off, its front right leg and rear left leg were cut off and it was decapitated. A three-part video series on a mobile phone shows the dog being tortured.

The maximum penalty under the Animal Care and Protection Act for such an offence is $75,000 or two years in jail; however the maximum penalty ever handed out has been a four month jail term.

WE BELIEVE THESE MEN SHOULD RECIEVE THE MAXIMUN PENALTY AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA FOR THIS SADISTIC, DISGUSTING ACT.

I have been tuning into the meeting... its still going on.
Yes, I think any calls or comment forms used, faxes, emails... is all good for this issue. The more the better, so that is great to post them on other networks as you did. The HSUS and ASPCA has had action alerts to do for a while as well... they are in my discussion as well.
I will pass on any new info from the president of the local horse group after the meeting... probably will come tomorrow.
cheers!
