Hi, Everybody! As an update 8 days later: I started giving Spunky little granules of a product called Liveraid. I think it's really helping her. An online vet recommended trying Pepcid for her gut. That didn't seem to help. But Periactin is helping…

So is your lab eating OK? I can't believe how long it's taking her to start eating on her own. Sounds like I need to get her on those liver meds from vet ASAP. Another problem for her is she has such a sensitive gut. Any new supplement sets her back…

Dear Debbie, My dog Spunky at a Sago Palm seed 2-1/2 months ago. I didn't realize whatshe ate until 8 long days after the fact. She wasn't eating her normal food, but was eating...and vomiting occaisionally. I Googled it, and realized I had seen tha…

I have two dogs that ate the offshoots of a sago palm. They are the parts that attach to the base and grow new leaves (not the seeds). We had removed them and replanted. A couple were small and interesting to my two dogs. Both vomited immediately an…

Keep the faith. It seems like the liver spikes a few days AFTER the actual ingestion so your baby is doing things normally in that regard. Rest is the best and keep doing it. My dog Beanie only started getting better when I kept her down almost full…

I have a 6 month Aust. Shep - Candy- who chewed up the root and leaves of a "baby sago" about 4 or 5 times before I realized it was BAD. Initially, on IV at vet. Then sent home with Marin and Metronidazole and pepcid ac (famotidine)and instructions to recheck blood work in 2 weeks. all was well until I ended up in the hospital (viral encephalitus)...then the meds got discontinued. WHen I got out...a few days later Candy is lethraget and won't eat. Back to the vet...blood work...not good...not a lot of hope. Gave her 24 hrs on the following:
1. Lactulose - 5 ml/3 times a day this is to keep her stool very runny to allow extra fluids to be expelled (that was on the kitchen floor - all over - this morning and on the white carpet last night in the front room...YUCK!)

2. Famotidine (Pecid AC) 10 mg/2 times a day This is to protect her intestines

3. Spironolactone 25 mg tabs - 2 tabs/2 times a day. This is the direutic. We increased it on thurs because she was gaining girth (looking very pregnant) This can damage her kidneys and the dose will be assessed on Tuesday after another blood panel is done.

4. Metronidazole. 250 mg tabs - 1/2 tab/3 times a day. This is an antibotic for the intestines and helps eliminate liver toxins.

5. Marin. This is a suppliment that contains vitamin E, silybin A & B and zinc. It is recommended to help the liver cleanse itself.

Not sure what the two meds your pup was on...want to check with my vet on that...we are still early days on this and not sure that Candy will survive this. In herself she is happy - just not too much into food. Was told high carbs, low protein diet...she likes Life cereal. She'll eat chicken and grouper. any suggestions...happy to hear them.

Debbie,

I'm glad to hear your dog survived Sago Palm poisoning. My cat didn't. I have launched the attached web page: http://www.mo-driver.com/sago-palm-plants-kill.htm and I really would appreciate it if you would get the word out. If you support what the petition says, please sign it and pass it on.
Thanks,
Vince

Hi, I signed the petition "maximum penalty for the men who hacked up a puppy." I'm asking you to sign this petition to help us reach our goal of 100,000 signatures. I care deeply about this cause, and I hope you will support our efforts. Here are the basics of the case:

Hardened police officers have been shocked by the horrifying torture, mutilation and brutal slaying of a seven month old fox terrier puppy near Mackay at the weekend.

If found guilty, they could face up to two years in prison. Police have obtained video footage from a mobile phone which shows graphic images of the puppy yelping and howling in terrible pain as it hacked to pieces with garden shears and a pocked knife.

They said the owners were too distressed to talk to anyone about it.

The pups nose was cut off, its front right leg and rear left leg were cut off and it was decapitated. A three-part video series on a mobile phone shows the dog being tortured.

The maximum penalty under the Animal Care and Protection Act for such an offence is $75,000 or two years in jail; however the maximum penalty ever handed out has been a four month jail term.

WE BELIEVE THESE MEN SHOULD RECIEVE THE MAXIMUN PENALTY AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA FOR THIS SADISTIC, DISGUSTING ACT.

To sign the petition, please copy and paste the following link:

my apologies. I didn't mean to infer that all allergies are related to yeast. Foods, pollens, molds, (you name it) can be the cause. Nevertheless, were any animal of mine suddenly scratching like crazy, my early check list would be to check for: in…
