I apologize, JulieAnn, for the delay. I rarely come to this site and must have missed the e-mail notification. Your home sounds exciting with all your sweet pets! Bless you for caring for those in need.

hi! i just watched the video about animal cruelty. like many others it breaks my heart. and i would report abuse just like i would for a child. people are so cruel. and some of it is for their own amusement. sick. it's hard to watch these videos, but i do because i want to know what is going on out there and how i can help. someday the animals will rule the earth long after the human race is gone. and they will florish. until then i will try to do what i can to make a difference. thank you for the info. angie

Proud pet parent of:
2 mini dashounds, (Katrina and Princess),1 Shep/lab mix (Delta). 1 ferret,(joey) 1 cockatiel (Kara) 18 Cats, Sara, Rachel, Abbey, Jonesy, Nascar, Flower, Annie, Angel,Tessie
8 kittens (all under 3 months): Patches, Muffy, Munchkin, Ariel, Ginger, Charcoal, (2 new 8 day old babies not named yet) All our cats are rescues.
How we met:
All our pets are rescues except Katrina (doxie) and Joey ( 8 month old ferret). Both Katrina and Joey were chosen from litters by me and gotten because I pacifically choose them and wanted them. All the other animals were rescues so we didn't purposely pick them out. We love everyone of them. Each of them has a sad story of their own. And each is well adjusted and happy now.
Pet likes:
I love Ferrets and mini Dachshunds. Those are my preferred pets. Though I do adore cats also, and I have a weakness for cockatiels. I love animals that are feisty and basically little stinkers. Both my doxies and ferret are very inquisitive and have to be involved in everything I do. Though even the cats follow me around the yard, I always have at least 3 or 4 helping me do yard work. loll I basically like animals that are fun loving and seem to be into everything.
Pet dislikes:
I do not like or tolerate animals that do not get along. Our pets are excepted to live together and fights and scrapping is not allowed. Our cats, dogs and ferret all play, eat, and even sleep together. The only time one of our animals is allowed to be snippy or not "get along" with the others is if they are sick,or dying. Our dogs even help the mother cats with their kittens and the mama's allow it .
Pet’s favorite spot:
MY BED!!!!! We sleep with 2 doxies, at least 6 cats at all times. (not always the same cats!!) The cats not on the bed are in baskets around the bed. Delta (shep/lab) sleeps on the floor at the foot of the bed on a pillow. During the day you can always find at least 6 cats at one time sprawled across the bed.
Pet’s favorite toy:
Stuffed baby toys. I buy them at the 2nd hand store and all the cats and dogs and even the ferret love to drag them around, and tear them up. And rubber toys with squeakies in them.
Pet’s silliest habit:
Joey loves to dump over small trash cans and dig all the contents out on the floor. He loves to drag my toilet brush around the house. (I haven't found a place to hide it yet that he doesn't find it again)The cats are a blast at night when they start romping and chasing each other. The doxies are a trip because their front legs are shorter than the back ones so they run like little bunnies. A short of hop, with their ears flying in the wind.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
When they are all sleeping loll
I crack up when my pet:
The funniest and most fun thing is when the doxies, cats and the ferret start tearing around the house playing tag up and over the furniture and through all the rooms.
My pet is unique because:
All my pets are unique. But I think Katrina is the most special and stands out. she is loving and gentle with all the other animals, she is the peace maker. She breaks up scraps between the cats, loves on all the kittens. She even raised 3 of our cats who mom was killed when they were 3 weeks old. She has helped to raise every kitten that has come into our home. She lovingly grooms and cuddles them. She protects the kittens and the other doxie very fiercely. She is a remarkable dog.

HORRORS OF US SLAUGHTERHOUSES

THE HORROR OF CHINAS FUR TRADE COMES IN SECOND PLACE TO THE HORRORS OF OUR US SLAUGHTERHOUSES.
Stephanie Welch: The Humane Farming Association investigated allegations by workers at a slaughterhouse in Wallula, Washington, run by IBP, the world's largest meatpacker. Workers said that because of the rapid line speed, they weren't able to properly stun animals before slaughtering them; many cows were still alive while being dismembered. as the sworn statement of over two dozen IBP workers, c

GETTING PETS FIXED

I have been joining groups and reading many stories on this site. My biggest concern is that poeple don't act responsibly with thier pets. We get upset over the killing in shelters, the strays walking the streets, the animal neglect and cruelty, etc etc, yet the majority of pet owners do not get thier animals fixed. There are very few cities where you can not find a place that fixes your pet quite cheaply. Even if it means taking them to another city near by. If pet owners would get animals fixe… Continue

ANIMAL CRUELTY

I am so thankful I have found this site. It has given me hope again. I have been so upset and felt hopeless that anything would ever change. It is fantastic to see and read all the articles and find so many people who care about animals and are actually trying to do something about all the cruelty in the world.
Anyway, I am a avid animal rights activist. For years I was very involved in PETA. After a few years I started to have problems with some of the things that PETA does and stopped supporti… Continue

That is what I feel also, when is the statement "everything that could be done, was done" accurate? There is no way to know in 5 months, that is what I fear. I too have had a similar story as Darrell's with dogs, a ferret and this year our precio...

100% agree. $30+/month for food and then you have toys, bed, scratching surfaces, immunizations, spaying/neutering, and then you have to figure in emergencies. I recently got a 'free' kitten and in the first week spent $250--luckily she was still ...

Yes I've read to do the "ouch" thing. I have tried it but it's really funny. He stops but looks at me really funny then tries to jump and lick me to make sure I'm ok, LOL. I will keep trying if he nips but you're right. Since he will be a big dog ...
