No I would not. Put fancy collars on them sure any time but I will never haver their natural dignity compromised. After all sighthounds are regal and I think that if you emphasise that you will have the fun of seeing that side of them. On Hallowee...

Profile Information

Proud pet parent of:
Connor,Tristan,Darcy and Mike
How we met:
I bought my whippet Mike in the spring of 2003 he was six months old at the time. Connor joined us in March 2005 he is an ex-racing greyhound who I had flown in from Madrid Spain. Tristan joined us December 2008 and Darcy Janurary 2009.
Pet likes:
My four hounds love their food and morning run snoozing on the sofa and the love and caresses I shower upon them. They are deeply loved family members. Nothing is ever too good for them.
Pet dislikes:
They dislike pittbulls, amstafs rotties and other breeds that are not sighthounds. Darcy and Mike are both well socialised and don´t care about other breeds of dogs. Tristan and Connor are typical ex-racers and had not seen any other dogs execpt other racing greyhounds. So I will keep working with them to alter their peception of other dogs at their pace and with the love, patience and understanding we will achieve this together.
Pet’s favorite spot:
Sighthounds love their comforts. Mine sleep in my bed on the sofas anywhere they want. My greyhounds sleep in each their own chosen spot. My whippet usually sleeps with me.
Pet’s favorite toy:
I would say this varies greatly depending on their moods. They play when they get hungry I call this their huntingmode. They are fed twice a day to avoid twisted stomachs and intestines.
Pet’s silliest habit:
Tristan chatters his teeth it sounds as if he is purring like a cat. Darcy barks it sounds like a sealion. Connor smiles showing teeth and there is a happy expresion in his eyes that lets you know that he is having fun. Mike dances on his hind legs whilst still having all four paws firmly planted on the floor.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
There are so manny that it is hard to choose a favorit one.
I crack up when my pet:
When Darcy runs towards me at top speed and all 36 kiloes of him bounces because he can´t stop and all end up in a heap on the sofa. Connor when he begins throwing stuffed toys in the air and then pounces on them. Tristan when he tidies up. I have two large boxes where I put all the toys in when I clean up. He systematicly takes them and puts them in his favorit sleeping spot that particular day. Mike when he tries to steal the food of the kitchen tops and gets caught.
My pet is unique because:
my four lads are uniqe because they get along realy well only Connor is neutered but dosen´t know that. They never fight and truely love each other. They are wonderful caracters who just needed a second chance.

If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
and share with you its beauty
on the days you're feeling blue.
If I could build a mountain
you could call your very own;
a place to find serenity,
A place to be alone.
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things I'm finding
are impossible for me.
I can't build a mountain
or catch a rainbow fair,
but let me be what I know best,
a friend who's always there.

So that is Mike. I Thought he seemed a little small to be a Greyhound. I am so glad to hear you are not spoiling your dogs. Boiling chicken and giving them the juice, my, my. That's as bad as me saving small peices of chicken to put in my dog's food. I am guilty of spiking the food too. Ummm, almost every night.
Sundown is still my problem boy. I thought we may be through the worst of the allergy season, but I was going through his hair again today and found a few big staph lesions.
I think I am going to have to call the vet and have her order a kit from the University of Illinois. They will send her the medium needed to transport two plugs from Sundown's skin. One from a lesion and one from good skin, and then they make a solution for me to inject like I do his allergy med.

I have been quite surprised this year with test results on me. I have been in the fitness industry for 25 years, and have been doing fitness activites since the mid 70's. I taught strength training and aerobic fitness, and was the lead trainer in strength. I was speed walking 5 miles 4-5 times a week until 2 years ago, that's when my right hip started to bother me. It came after the second surgery in two years on my right foot. It is obvious from my hands that I have osteoarthritis, and I knew my knees could not take any running anymore. I was low in Vitamin D, hormone levels were not good, I am in menopause. But I did not expect to find out from a bone density test that I have ostopena, and now I find that the right hip doesn't have any cartilage left. It is in the genes. My brother, 4 years younger than I, had both knees replaced this year.
I am working hard now to get the muscle around the hip joint as strong, and flexible as possible. I know there will be a setback, so I want to be well prepared. I will survive.

Phoenix, now Onyx, is doing so well. It is so nice that my daughter's neighbor adopted her, she is in my neighborhood and I can see her often. She was over for a toenail trim last Sunday. I love seeing her.

You mention your studies. If I may be so bold, what is it you are studying?

Good to hear that Darcy recovered so quickly. That is not something one wants to deal with for long.
As for you, not what I wanted to hear. Sounds like legal system there is similar to here, slow and aggravating. In the mean time it is on your mind, but not that they care. It is good that you have the lads to comfort you. I find having furkids around helps keep the mind off the bad stuff.
I am starting volunteer work with my small town shelter, not the county shelter I have been with for 3 years. This is my own town, it's very small, I did not even know we had a shelter, I live in the rural area. This shelter has a 7 day hold, then euthanize. So far the animal control officer and chief of police have managed to get some dogs out of there. There is a couple of volunteers that help already. I will be going in to see what I can do to help get them posted on Petfinders. I saw the place Monday. It is meant to be just a holding facility. The dogs and cats have very little human contact, not a good place to be for any length of time. I may be just picking up poop, feeding and watering. Walking is not good for me now, I am having total hip replacement the first of next year. I figure whatever I can do, is better than nothing. There are 2 dogs and 4 cats there now. I am off to meet the police chief now for the first time.

((HUGS)) to all,
Linda

yes we all make mistakes.and at times we have to make unpopular decisions. the person who put this dog in this trouble is the real problem.

That dog is beautiful. It must be a rhodesian ridgeback. Do you see like a dark line on her back? I can't really see it on the picture. Because if she has one it has to be this breed.
