Daphne, my 2 and a half year old, adorable cocker-lab mix
How we met:
I started out fostering Daphne from a cocker rescue organization; I originally had only intended on providing a foster home for her, but two hours after I brought her home, she fell asleep on my shoulder and of course, I knew then and there that she was the girl for me ;-).
So of course, I contacted the organization the next day to tell them that I wanted to provide a forever home for her. And the rest is history!!
Pet likes:
Daphne is just an adorable pooch with a totally alpha personality. She's not afraid of anyone or anything (household appliances, like vacuum cleaners excepted!!).
I didn't grow up with pets, so call it beginner's luck, but I definitely feel that I won the dog lottery with her.
Pet dislikes:
The amount of hair she sheds is the one thing that I wish I could change about her. But I wouldn't give her up for the world. Even when she's naughty she's still cute!!
Pet’s favorite spot:
On the bed, sleeping with me. Although I move around so much during the night that she invariably ends up on the living room couch by morning.
Pet’s favorite toy:
She doesn't seem too interested in toys.
Pet’s silliest habit:
She sometimes sleeps on her back, with her legs up in the air. It's the funniest thing. That and the sounds she makes when she's in deep sleep. I assume that dogs dream, just like people, so that must be what is going on.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Sometimes I wake up in the mornings to find her head on my shoulders. She loves her Papa!!
I crack up when my pet:
Gets into doggie "arguments" with other animals at the dog park.
I'd love to know what she's saying to the other animals when she's barking up a storm. It's all innocuous, of course. Daphne wouldn't hurt a fly. Unless of course, she can sense danger either to herself or to me.
My pet is unique because:
Well there are too many things about here that are unique. But if I had to name one, it would be her breed. She's a half cocker-half lab mix with a cropped tail, cocker ears and size (she weights just 30 lbs) and the sweet temperament of both.
Unfortunately, she also had 9 puppies at just six months of age. Since I doubt that a dog that young would be interested in mating, she (sadly) must have been raped. But however traumatic it was at the time, she seems to have gotten over it!!
Does your dog have brown stains in the feet or face? As Barbara has mentioned, check the food with your veternarian because certain dog foods could be causing the dogs system to produce yeast toxins, that is a major cause of allergy toxins.
