I watched it as well. The conditions at that farm are unbelievable. I have some of my own animals that I raise for meat, milk and eggs... I can't imagine treating any animal like those in that film, whether they are a pet or being raised for consump…
You haven't told us how old she is, that's important. If she viewed the bed, or the house as hers, she would not be urinating in it - which tells me she was never housetrained. Take her out often, hourly, praise praise when she goes potty (1 or 2) G…
Jimmie: I looked at the Cumberland newspaper. The shelter's number is this
To claim these animals, call (301) 777-5930.
Call them, tell them your situation, and maybe they can give you a reference of some sort.
Animal shelters are overwhelmed not wi…
jessica: there is a lot of good information on the web. It's really very easy, assuming you are home with the dog all day. Take him out every hour, when he goes potty you say "good potty" and praise him while he's doing it, then you go back inside f…
You're breaking my heart, Jimmie. I am looking at knee surgery for my own dog, and while I don't have much money either, I will take care of my kids no matter what.
Surely your vet can work out a payment plan, or you have a credit card, or a local r…
You screwed up by not socializing him when he was young. The most important part of a dogs life is the first months 3-5, their personalities get set by their experiences. That is why it is paramount to have pups learn to interact with as many dogs a…
We had the strangest thing happen with our pit Cooper. Our neighbors are afraid of him, as they are the rest of our dogs, but especially Cooper because he barks at them from behind the fence. They called AC because he barks at them. They came. When…
Juno really needs another dog to cuddle up to, she is so young. If you could get a crate and have her sleep in it right next to your bed, so she can hear you breathing, that might help. I'd probably put a mat on the floor and sleep with her.
She is…
Do you run to the doctor every time you get gas? That's ridiculous. I'm all for taking a dog to the vet when a need arises, but sometimes you just need to use a little common sense!
When we first brought Emma home, she had a gas problem, but that has since gone away. I'm just saying don't expect miracles overnight. They have a new environment to deal with and an adjustment to new foods, give it time. A good quality food is very…
As a foster mother that was ultra careful about the homes I adopted to, I still ended up with a couple bad adoptions. One female kept getting out of the yard, and another adopter was told by the association that he couldn't keep his adoptee. We had…
Very interesting Patricia, glad you joined the discussion. Could you be more specific, for those of us
that suspect abuse, but really don't know. I have been told about running them too young in the U.S., what else? I'd like to know more of what you…
I think it's worth mentioning here that the younger you can get the fix, the easier it is on the animal and the quicker the comeback.
I just had my most recent rescue fixed at 13 months (dog), that first night was terrible for her. We had pain pills…
You really really need to get to a vet. It sounds infected and you must get some antibiotics.
Minimum charge would be for an exam $40 range plus meds, you can do it. If you can't afford that, then you shouldn't have a dog.
5 dogs, 3 are pitbulls. Ages range from 10 months to 9 years. All are rescues. I used to foster pitbulls when we lived in San Jose. Pits are my favorite breed, although my border collie mix is the smartest of the bunch.
How we met:
One found as a pup in a field, 2 were fosters that never left, one came from my vet's office after a rescue, and Emma the new pup found me when she joined us on a walk. I kept her because wherever she came from mistreated her. She is fearful of everything, but she is young and will come out of it.
Pet likes:
I love all animals.
Pet dislikes:
Don't like aggression or fence fighting. My neigbors dog loves to fence fight. My dogs are always supervised when in the yard.
Pet’s favorite spot:
trails, ponds, Sacramento River
my bed
Pet’s favorite toy:
frisbee and tennis balls
Pet’s silliest habit:
digging holes, chasing birds
Pet’s sweetest moments:
I especially love kisses
My pet is unique because:
Most of my dogs love water. The youngest will grab the end of the hose and run around the yard with it.
A lot of pits don't like water, but mine do!

Hi Martha,a friend of my daughter is giving away baby pits.I 'M interested in 1.Is it hard to raise,I wouldn't think so.What all can you fill me in about this breed?I have 2 chihs.1 kitty.I love dogs, actually my family get on me cause I care way to much for animals.I tell them they (family) are grown and can support themselves.thanks for any info you can give.
I wouldn't know from personal experience that she won't be but in my opinion very good socialization and as I would put it "extensive doggy training boot camp" at an early age will be the best to prevent any issues and at any sign of aggression corr…
