At the bottom of this list of poisons is
Toxins that affect the blood:
Onions
Garlic
This is all I need to know...my pets will not have anything with onions…
When I adopted Buddy, my 4-year-old Golden Retriever, December 2007 I was told that he had allergies. Boy, does he ever!!! Buddy would get a Depo Medrol Injection every 6 weeks, but the itching would return before the 6 weeks was up. After constant…
My veterinarian recommends Frontline Plus for dogs and cats. With 2 indoor Golden Retrievers and 14 indoor cats, flea control is ongoing. Fortunately, my vet will price match online pricing. Here is the site I use to price match

How we met:
Dogs:
Got Alex as a 6-week-old puppy from an ad in the newspaper;
Found Buttons and Peaches from an ad in the newspaper, advertised free "Retired Breeding Females", from a less-than-desirable breeder who could no longer profit from "old" dogs! Lost Peaches due to Cancerous Tumor 04/2008 and Buttons due to Old Age (13 years 10 months=96 to 103 in human years); Maya, a stray, found and adopted us Labor Day weekend 2006; lost Maya to a terrible accident while jumping our fence December 2007. It saddens me whenever I think of Buttons, Peaches, and dear Maya. Maya was always with me, usually right next to me or on top of me whenever I was on the couch. Maya and I always slept together. Every 4-5 hours day and night Maya and I would take a walk. How Maya loved the river walks! There will be many more tears… Maya is missed terribly. Maya will always be loved in my heart and memories; Buddy was found through a "Free Dog" ad; I wanted to be sure he was adopted by someone who would love and care for him.
Cats:
Got Casey as a kitten at a garage sale, died 03/2008;
CJ was a lost, wet, flea-covered, tiny kitten at our window on a rainy cold October night whom Casey insisted we bring indoors;
Lucky, a few weeks old, and only survivor of a litter of 4 who had one ear all but torn off;
Kyra was a feral kitten born in the park, found by Alex on a dog walk and took days to catch;
Kokopelli (Lost March 2008), Rocky (Lost November 2007)...I do not know what happened to these 2 brothers and why they did not come home...I miss them terribly!), and Abby we got from a neighbor who did not spay and neuter;
Kelly and Katie were abandoned kittens in the park and also found on a dog walk. (Lost Katie Sue 08/2008; our neighbor's dogs do not like cats and Katie Sue was sleeping in their yard...);
Bootsie followed my husband home late one very cold March night and hasn't left! At that time, my guess is that he is 3 or 4 months old.
Kali (Lost August 2009) and sister Kayla Belle were tiny kittens found at a busy intersection near our home, soon to be road kill!
Punkin and Sasha were month-old kittens found in an alley on Halloween while we were walking our dogs.
Gypsy Rose, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Phoenix, and Travis were orphaned when stray mother killed by car and were on the street...; Johnny Cash was lone kitten left to fend for himself and had an eye infection which now is cleared after just a week of Wellness Catfood...good nutrition...
Pet likes:
Our dogs are indoor dogs; 4 of our 10 our cats are indoor/outdoor cats.
Alex and Buddy love their walks. Even though we have a fenced yard, they prefer to walk for their potty breaks.
Our 4 indoor/outdoor cats, Lucky, Abby, Kelly and Boots walk with us when we walk the dogs in our neighborhood.
Pet dislikes:
Thunder and Lightning!
Fireworks!
Pet’s favorite spot:
All our dogs and cats want to be close to us wherever we are!
Alex prefers on the bed with my husband watching TV or napping;
Buddy likes the sofa or on the cool ceramic floor in the kitchen, or wherever I happen to be!
Lucky, Kelly, and Kali like to sit or lay on top of me when I am on the sofa;
CJ likes sunny windows, top of the washer or dryer by the window, or on top of the televison next to the warmth of the cable box (I have to put a rack on top of the cable box to keep the cats from laying right on top of it);
Kyra prefers the master bedroom with my husband, Larry, or on top of the television next to the cable box just like CJ. Kyra is still feral to everyone but Larry, including me. I am the one who spent several days trying to rescue her in the park!
Abby likes the back of the sofa or a chair, on a soft pillow by a sunny window, or on my computer chair;
Kelly prefers to snuggle with Alex, our 86# Golden Retriever, he considers Alex "his dog" ever since Alex "mothered" him when he was a kitten. Kelly demands attention by rubbing against my face, he likes a shallow empty box by my computer indoors, but prefers anywhere outdoors even when it is freezing!;
Abby likes my computer chair, a basket, or the lawn chair on the back porch.
Kelly's favorite outdoor spot is the ltop of my husband's Chevy truck...lots of paw prints!
Boots just flops wherever he happens to be.
Kayla likes anywere there is a soft pillow, a kitty nest, etc.
Punkin and Sasha don't care where, they just like to hang out together
Pet’s favorite toy:
Alex likes the rope pulltoys; Buddy likes to fetch tennis balls. Buddy also loves cat toys, but once Buddy gets ahold of one, that's the end of the toy! Buddy's favorite toy is our cat Boots! LOL
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Something they do touches my heart every day! I have more pet pictures than any other!
I crack up when my pet:
Lucky, Abby, Kelly, and Boots all walk with the dog pack.
Kelly will even stop next to the dogs to "do his business".
My pet is unique because:
Each one of our dogs and cats has their own unique personality and special reasons why we love him/her...

I am trying to recruit members to be a part of any of the three clubs listed here... Pre-Vet, Pre-Vet Tech, or Veterinary Assistant. You do not have to be in school.. be a vet student or technician. This is a club to support the beliefs of the ASPCA.. and interact with other members that support the field of veterinary medicine.
We are now looking for members to become a part of the executive board. There are many positions open, such as VP - Secretary - Treasurer - Website Director - Public Relations Director - and more!
I hope that you will consider joining this club! You may contact me by leaving a comment on my page or by direct email at:

I saw the poem you listed (Tray's Poem/One By One) & it tugged @ my heartstrings. The poem is getting new life across Virginia. It's on the Staunton ASPCA webpage & I have it hanging on my wall @ the vet clinic I work at. I've passed it out to all the clinics in my area. It is loved by all that see it!
I agree about kindness and dignity, and the lack of it especially during transport. I would hope to see that dignity upheld, but many horse lovers would not have the ability to work that job due to the nature, and so many times people working at sla…
Listen, I agree.. we have to do something. We can't let horses suffer from neglect just because owners don't want them anymore and they don't know what to do with them. I totally see your point.
But I believe someone else here made the point that j…
