I have a horse, but did not want a horse. But more than I did not want a 'horse' I wanted to share my life with this individual who happens to have been born as a horse.
Sorta like I want to have a dog team again, but not out to get a dog just because its a husky, but because of WHO that dog is as an individual to become part of my family.
Same as, I did not marry my wife just because she was a woman?

I also hunt, but yet to shoot anything bigger than a bird, I make myself look the animal directly in the eye, so I can feel the full impact of my actions. This year I had 3 moose within 30 feet of me, had the license, had the rifle pointed for a quick kill and finger on the trigger, but never pulled it due to "who" the individual animal was. Each was a peaceful soul. I was looking for one that was "mean" (and we do have some of those!) I live semi-remote in Alaska.
But STRIVE to be vegetarian, and grow as big and good of a garden as I can. If I could get it in good enough, I wouldn't even eat fish or any meat.
I respect those with different views, yet share my own, as well as seek to learn from theirs.

I am against cruelty towards animals, and view humans as animals too. 99% of those who know love for animals, are also people of peace, because they know the true value of love.
