I'm sorry I'm so late replying to this post, but I just discovered it. My cat, Laser, has been a therapy cat for 11 years. In fact, because he is so good at what he does, Laser was named the ASPCA's "Cat of the Year" in 2006.
When I first heard abo…
This is a group hosted by Greer Griffith, Manager of Animal Assisted Therapy/Activities at the ASPCA. This is a place where we can learn from one another by sharing ideas, experiences and concerns.
Fluffy (a 15-year-old gray & white domestic shorthair cat)
Laser (a 12-year-old Siamese cat)
Dusty (an 11-year-old Chow mix dog)
Dixie (an 8-year-old Border Collie/Lab mix)
How we met:
Fluffy, Laser and Dixie came from shelters. Dusty was a stray we adopted
Pet’s favorite spot:
Fluffy likes to sit on the steps and look down on her household.
Laser can be happy anywhere as long as there is a lap available.
Dusty's favorite spot is the upstairs landing.
Dixie can usually be found lying on her bed, looking out our bedroom window.
Pet’s silliest habit:
Every night, right after my husband and I go to bed, Laser gets one of his soft, sparkly balls from upstairs and patrols the house with the ball in his mouth, "singing" as he goes.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Some of Laser's sweetest moments have happened during his pet therapy visits. In 11 years of doing pet therapy, he has made a lot of people happy. Sometimes he wraps his front legs around a patient's neck and gives "hugs." Other times he curls up in their laps or on their beds. He never fails to bring smiles.

Nancy,
thank you so much for responding. I will definitely check up on Delta. Do you know if we have any one local in San Antonio with the ASPCA? I would like to know how I can get involved.
Nancy,
I hope you can give me some direction. Not too long ago I was planning to use my ddog as a therary dog. I had taken her our vet (AKA member) and he had approved her disposition. Well unfortunately she passed away from cancer before we got to go out on our first vistit to a nursing home. Well, now I am considering actually starting a dog therapy organization. I jnow the basics, but I would like to start somethinf here in San Antonio Texas. Do you have any reccommendations on what I need to do to begin? I feel that there is a huge need in our society for being to be exposed to animals in a positive manner. In turn, I bet many homeless animals with great dispositions once approved through a vete would make great therapy dogs! I am excited about the conceept but need some direction....
This ice storm reminds me of the ice storm we had in New England back in the 70s and we were with out power for a week. Reminded me of the movie Day after Tomorrow.
I hope no dogs were hurt during this storm.
Thank you for posting the photos from your facebook site. That's what I was hoping to see. Your website could use more images of your facilities. The photo's from a quick glance at your website didn't really show the size of the facilities for the d…
Staci, I just want to be clear about one thing.. they are not considering using the money that was donated to assist in their budget shortfall, are they? I don't think that is legal.. or maybe it is, I'm not sure!
Please say it ain't so. You'd thin…
I am one of the Full Moon Farm volunteers. I have been involved with FMF for just over 3 years. Nancy is still without power and unable to respond, so she asked me to post. Some strong, serious and unsubstantiated allegations have been made against…
That's how I did it.. with the patch. Some people smoke for the oral satisfaction.. so gum might work better for them. That worked for my son, who has quit long ago.
