Please encourage your Congressperson to join and support the Congressional Friends of Animals Caucus! The Congressional Friends of Animals (CFA) Caucus is a bipartisan congressional organization that raises awareness within Congress on animal welfare issues. It was founded in 1989 and has been co-chaired by Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT) and Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA). Sadly, Rep. Shays was defeated for re-election this past November. The CFA organizes forums and briefings for Members of Congress and their staff on issues affecting animals and upcoming animal welfare legislation formed around the interests and needs of the members. CFA also tracks legislation and provides members of Congress with reliable, up-to-date information. Because the membership covers a wide spectrum of beliefs, the CFA does not write policy papers or produce issue briefs. The organization has achieved success in building coalitions among members on specific animal protection bills. CFA members have used the organization to help promote animal welfare issues of particular interest to them and their constituents. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was too good to not share. The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door. Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest. The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run. I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm. For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years canine/feline attendance is not required. The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough. Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS: (1) They live here. You don't. (2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture. (3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people. (4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly. Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they(1) eat less, (2) don't ask for money all the time, (3) are easier to train, (4) normally come when called, (5) never ask to drive the car, (6) don't hang out with drug-using people; (7) don't smoke or drink, (8) don't want to wear your clothes, (9) don't have to buy the latest fashions, (10) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and (11) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children
What's your inner animal spirit?
Your Result: Tiger
You are a brave fighter. But you'd prefer to have the upper hand in a fight... Sneak attacks are your strong suit! You can also be a strong lover, someone who (much like a tiger) will stay loyal to your "mate". Grrrr-eat job on the quiz!
Michael Vick left a Kansas prison
RICHMOND, Va. (AP)—Suspended NFL star Michael Vick(notes) left a Kansas prison before dawn Wednesday to begin home confinement in Virginia, one of his attorneys said, the latest step on a journey that Vick hopes will lead to his reinstatement.
Vick, who turns 29 in June, slipped past waiting cameras and reporters undetected to leave a federal penitentiary in Leavenworth after serving 19 months for financing a dogfighting ring. He was headed to Virginia by car to begin two months of home confine… Continue
Heart Breaking
This morning has probably been the saddest morning I have had in quite sometime...As I was driving to work this morning in the distance I see something lying in the street close to the median as I approach I think to myself that it is most likley a cyote that did not make it crossing the street, They have done soo much construction in the past year that all the cyotes are basically homeless, which is sad in itself...Well I got closer and through my teary eyes i see about a 70 lb beautiful dark t… Continue
This is for the birds....
Well a 5-0 vote gave final approval to a new animal control ordinance that targets owners of "vicious" dogs for heavy fines and expenses. The Mayors exact words and I quote are "Its time we returned civility to our city, and having people walking around with pit bulls scaring their neighbors is not civility." If an owner is found to be in possession of a "vicious" dog the ordinance would allow the city to impose a fine of $1,000 for each basis upon which the animal was deemed "vicious" or $500 f… Continue
Are you kidding? They wont let you adopt them out? That is retarted!
we should start something up for them. I would do it now i just dont have any space/land. I want to do some parades or something to raise money to go towards them. Its just not fair for these poor dogs.
Yeah that is exactally why they get the bad rap and the sadest part is it makes people scared of them and not want to adopt them and then they get all these stupid laws passed on them.
TAKE PICTURES! That is the most important part because cops always want proff and if there is no proff there will be no actions taken. but if you have proof more then likely they will do something because that is illegal here in CA. Make sure to take pictures of the men who live there fighting and also if you can get pictures of money. Become a spy for these dogs and get some undercover pictures of the men the dogs fighting and if money or drugs or what ever is traded (that makes it worse) and then call the cops right after u take the pics so hopefully all the dogs and people will be there at that time u show the cops the pictures! GOOD LUCK!!!
Happy late easter by the way!
I agree to that. chains just build up their musecle mass and the muzzles just make it look like they are agressive and they bite. that makes them become anti-social. that then could cause some agression to new people. like some dogs become protectiv…
