our Stories
When Jeff and I met, I already had two cats, Billy and Binx. I moved them from Southern California to Connecticut with me when I moved out here in Jan of 2003. Once Jeff and I got our own place.. we wanted a dog.. so we bought ICE an all white male Siberian Husky. He's the coolest dog...plays soccer like no ones business..and is a very loving dog.
A year later Jeff's ex-wifes parents were getting rid of an all white female Husky.. so we rescued Angel. We had her less than three months when she began having grand mal seizures. We found out that Angel has Epilepsy and through many trying years.. we have finally got her seizures under control. She's such a sweet dog... but typical husky.. she loves to run.
My daughter brought home a little black and white cat.. that was no more than 8 weeks old.. she found it wandering the streets in winter. One of my neighbors has about 6 cats.. none are fixed.. none go to the vet, none are allowed inside.. needless to say.. that's how we rescued Little Bit...our little Tuxedo Kitty.
About a year later.. we had always wanted a German Shepherd.. as we both had one growing up.. so we called the German Shepherd Rescue...and that's where we found Daley. She was about 3.5 years old.. and a beautiful female German Sherherd. The three dogs all got along great.. playing together in or outside the house.
Two years ago, Jeff got me Chief for Christmas.. my male Sable German Shepherd. I had a male years ago..and had to have him put down. So that's how we acquired our crew. Four big dogs, and 3 cats.
None of our cats have ever been allowed outside, and all of our dogs sleep inside. All SEVEN of our pets are neutered/spayed. Our huskies have a huge Kennel where they can run around in all day.. but they come in at night.. and during the hot summers, they spend their days laying around in an airconditioned house. As in the winters.. they spend the cold days going in and outside.
Our lives are pretty busy with our pets.. but our kids are grown..and we decided to have pets, instead of kids together.
Some people think we're insane to have so many pets.. but we love it. They all go to the vet regularly and we're lucky they're all healthy! We spend a LOT of time playing outdoors with our dogs...and snuggling up to them at night.
I can't imagine life without any of them!
