- How we met:
- Sammy (Sam for short) was born into a show dog family. He's a beautiful shetland sheepdog (sheltie) but he was too small to be a showdog. Both of his parents are showdogs but Sammy and his twin brother were not cut out for the show dog life. Sammy was too small and Sammy's brother was too big. We got the opportunity of getting Sammy.
- Pet likes:
- Long walks on the mountain, running, barking at mailmen, sleeping, eating, licking, barking at cats
- Pet dislikes:
- being brushed, having his teeth brushed, riding in the car, taking a bath, strangers
- Pet’s favorite spot:
- little niche between the couch and stereo, it's his little hideout
- Pet’s favorite toy:
- Ignores all toys & won't play fetch :(
- Pet’s silliest habit:
- barking at the doorbell. It's so silly because when he hears a doorbell on the TV he thinks it's the actual doorbell and he runs to the door barking crazily
- Pet’s sweetest moments:
- licking salty tears, jumping up to greet you, snuggling
- I crack up when my pet:
- barks when looking at himself in the mirror. He thinks it's his evil twin brother. He bangs his head into the mirror to try and catch his evil brother but ends up with a very bad headache!
- My pet is unique because:
- He taught me how wonderful dogs really are. Before we got him, I was afraid of dogs and now I love them more than any animal. It's amazing how such a small creature gave me insight on how wonderful dogs really are.
How I Came to Love Dogs
I used to be deathly afraid of dogs. I'm not even kidding. I was crazy, right? Well when I was younger I was SO afraid that a dog would come and bite me that I tried to stay away from them. Just the initial barking of a dog would freak me out. One day though, my parents decided to get a dog. I was not up for the idea since I was afraid of them but I couldn't think of a good reason that would convince them to not get a dog. When we first got the new puppy, I was so afraid of him that I just tried to stay away from him. I had a great fear that he would just bite me but he never did. In fact, he seemed to be more afraid of me than I was afraid of him. He never tried to bite me, and soon I became attached to him. I came to realize that he was a harmless, happy creature who fell in love with barking. He became my friend and I knew he would never hurt me intentionally. And I came across other dogs they seemed to be nice too. I had gotten used to my dog and somehow that made me become used to other dogs. Thanks to getting a dog I have fallen in love with these amazing animals!
