Profile Information

My website or blog:
http://aspcacommunity.ning.com/profiles/blog/list?user=20ohl872ieejk
Proud pet parent of:
My two rotties, Roxy and Junior. They are mother and son ... and just as son's do, he outgrew her already.
How we met:
I got Roxy when she was 8 weeks old and Junior is one of her pups (I let her have the one litter and now she is spayed).
Pet likes:
They like to play, of course ... toys, hands, each other, it really doesn't matter who or what ... and they love to cuddle up with me on my bed. Junior goes nuts for playing in the snow. They try so hard to be good (which isn't always easy, hehe) and their devotion to me is unsurpassed. They are so loving and always at my side. Roxy & Junior go EVERYWHERE with me...the minute I start getting ready to go somewhere, they get all excited! They hate it if I leave without them - which is VERY rare, but sometimes you just can't take them. I feel very safe with my babies by my side. They are my children and my best friends.
Pet dislikes:
Well, there really isn't much they don't like. The only thing that comes to mind right now is that they don't like being separated from me. They are very happy rotts. They do, however, have temper trantrums if I have to leave them home - and they'll chew up the furniture, comforters, pillows, or what ever else is handy! They really hate being scolded - it really doesn't take much to let them know they've been naughty, a certain look or a pointing finger (or if I hold up a little piece of stuffing from what ever it was they tore up), sends them to hide in a corner somewhere.
Pet’s favorite spot:
On my bed, on my feet, or by my side.
Pet’s favorite toy:
Anything on the floor is fair game. Needless to say, they have a lot of toys. Junior likes to play 'hands' where he tries to get my hands - he's very gentle - but that's his absolute favorite game. We have several hard rubber toys, which are the only toys that actually last.
Pet’s silliest habit:
Junior paces, from window to window, just watching outside. Roxy will come up to me and try to tell me something. She makes these little grunts and growly noises, and tosses her head. And, if I don't respond to her, she'll go tell someone else.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Bedtime when Roxy and Junior and I settle in and snuggle up.
I crack up when my pet:
Play in the snow or when we play tug-o-war with a toy, or just watching all the dogs play with each other, they're very coniving and manipulate each other. They also love to chase flies. That's hilarious to watch.
My pet is unique because:
Roxy & Junior are such characters! Their personalities, their little quirks and their attitude. They love me no matter what. I can't even go to the bathroom by myself (they have to help, ya know). If I'm on the move, so are they, right on my heels.

Mulch for garden kills dogs.....

Please tell every dog or cat owner you know. Even if you don't have a pet, please pass this to those who do:

The doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. They loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog Calypso decided that the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any… Continue

A PET'S 10 COMMANDMENTS . . . (originally brought to us by Fernanda)

I thought this was so beautiful and thought inspiring, I wanted to re-post it here...

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainments, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do… Continue

Prevent Poisonings

Have you taken inventory of your medicine cabinets lately? Are you properly storing lawn and garden pesticide containers? When you tidy up around the house, do you put food, liquor and tobacco products safely out of harm's way? These precautions are second nature to households with children, but homes with animals must be just as sec… Continue

YOU'VE GOT TO READ THIS if you have a dog (or know someone else who does) who is suffering from joint problems?

My rottweiler, Junior, was diagnosed with a crippling joint disease at age 6 months!!! At first I thought he got hurt playing with another dog, but after a week, his lameness was only getting worse. Finally, when I got him in to my vet, and several x-rays later, he was diagnosed with a degenerative joint disease. The vet told me Junior needed surgery (at $1,000 per joint) and to help ease the pain for now, to put him on glucosamine and chondroitin and baby aspirin. I was also advised by my vet t… Continue

thats actully everything i wanted to know. So lets say if I took my horse to camp and we would ride all day in the mountains for 3 days would I need to grain him then? But I know not to change the food but I just wanted to know what to expect to feed and pay. But if I grain him every so often is that a chance he will get colic or have a upset tummy?

Im getting a quarter horse and i will be do trail riding and just plain riding around and playing games. Do you think you can help?
I have some (alot) questions:

Thanks, for commenting about my Rottweilers. I seen your 3 and they are real adorable too. One question is how old are the 3 dogs? Second question is did you buy them or adopt them? My female is spayed however, my male is not fixed!...I didn't want them to have puppies together...For one reason is I don't have the room for a liter of pups. There's other reasons, but to hard to talk about! My female is 4 months shy in being two years old now. My male the little puppy just turned 15 months old the 30th of December 2008! There's only 5 months difference in their ages.......I read your article on Junior's joint disease and I could not help but cry.......However, it was an inspirational story and I am so very happy for you... Please read this page it is from my website. http://BigDog95.tripod.com/al-saf-2007.htm
