Profile Information

Proud pet parent of:
Frankie... corgie/boxer mix 8 week old boy
Jessie....border collie mix, 3 year old female
Angus..orange short hair cat, 10 year old male
Bebe....gray short hair car, 7 year old female
Iggy---our iguana....about 15 years old
Max - male shoorthair cat ....died in 2007 of old age ...he was my first true love and we miss him all the time.
Josie - female shorthair cat - died in 2008 of old age - my husbands first love and we miss him all the time as well.
How we met:
We saw Frankie's pic along with his sibs, on the Lincoln County Humane Society site. His mom was found roaming around, no tags, etc. They didnt realize right away she was pregnant and then they arrived. Some has short legs like their mom, Corgi mix and some had their dads (I guess one maybe more since the colors we all different). Frankie is the runt of the litter and is a handful, but with patience, discipline and love he will be as loving as Jessie is.
While in florida, i saw Jessie's picture on a website for adoption. When we met it was love at first site. However, the family that took her from a shelter, in order to sell her (we later learned) neglected her in the following ways, she had a bad case of ticks and fleas, incontinence problems, coxitia (Spelling?) and worms. We later reported this couple to the authorities.
Angus was found by my husband with Zoey, his sister (she had lung cancer and died 2 years ago) as kittens and brought them in from the cold in New York.
Bebe..was adopted from my grandmother since she was unable to care for her.
We had lost our 2 older cats in 2007, Max (my first love) and Josie (my husbands first love)
Pet likes:
Everything about animals amazes me (saving people, assisting the disabled and protecting the family).

Jessie likes a good belly rub..her woobie...meeting people and other dogs..and being close to us
Pet dislikes:
People that abuse them
Puppy Mills
Lawmakers that don't do anything about the pet population and animal cruelty
Jessie hates that!!!! Not much else...she'll just lay back a go with the flow
Pet’s favorite spot:
With my husband and myself and anywhere we are...that goes for all of them
Pet’s favorite toy:
Woobie - the knot that she takes off of her rawhide bone and carries around and protects like a child's baby blanket
Frankie's favorite toy is Jessie
Pet’s silliest habit:
Herding...actually tatteling on the cats when they are somewhere they don't belong like an open closet.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
When Frankie is sleeping or giving kisses (he learned that quickly)
When Jessie sleeps in between me and my husband on her own pillow...I dont know how long this moment will last now that Frankie seems to love the neck
Right now Jess's sweetest moment is the pateince, tolerance and control to play with Frankie and not hurt him or scare him. She loves him and he loves her. Waking up in the morning to see each other, for them is Christmas everyday
I crack up when my pet:
Play eith each other..Frankie will hide behind me and then pounce on Jessie which is 10X bigger than he is and then run back behind me.
Runs through the livingroom, through the bathroom and back again at least 5 times after a walk.
My pet is unique because:
They are ours....

All my pets have or had totally different personalities, like and dislikes. It amazes me that more people do not see animals as breathing creatures with feelings, personality, likes and dislikes., if they did there would be far less abuse and neglect

WISE QUOTES OF ANIMAL COMPASSION FROM WISE PEOPLE

BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD....
......Mahatma Gandi

If we cut up beasts simply because they cannot prevent us and because we are backing our own side in the struggle for existence, it is only logical to cut up imbeciles, criminals, enemies, or capitalists for the same reasons. ~C.S. Lewis

We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form. ~William Ralph Inge, Outspoken Essays, 1922

I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her. ~Ellen DeGeneres

Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow-creatures is amusing in itself. ~James Anthony Froude, Oceana, 1886

I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be honorable, to be compassionate. It is, after all, to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all....... .....Leo C. Rosten

If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion & pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men....... ....St. Francis of Assisi

Heaven is by favor, if it were by merit your dog would go in & you would stay out. Of all the creatures ever made, man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one...that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain...... ......Mark Twain

The assumption that animals are without rights & the illusion that our treatment of them has no more significance is a positively outrageous example of crudity & barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality......
....Schopenhauer

Vivisection is a social evil because if it advances human knowledge, it does so at the expense of human character........
.....George Bernard Shaw

Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character & it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.....
....Arthur Schopenhauer

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated...... ....Mahatma Gandhi

We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace....... Albert Schweitzer

Animals give me more pleasure through the view finder of my camera than they ever did in the cross-hairs of a gun sight. And after I've finished 'shooting' my unharmed victims they are still around for others to enjoy. I have developed a deep respect for animals. I consider them fellow living creatures with certain rights that should not be violated any more than those of humans.....
...Jimmy Stewart....

Wisdom, compassion & courage are the three universally recognized moral qualities of man.....
......Confucius

I can do no other than be revelant before everything that is called life. I can do no other than to have compassion for all that is called life. That is the beginning & the foundation of all ethics. .....Albert Schweitzer

Compassion is the basis of morality.........
...Arthur Schpenhauer

The start of the Ringling trial was a great day, and I am praying that good comes of it. We've been waiting a long, long time for justice to prevail. I have carried placards in protest when Feld comes to a city near us, and it can be discouraging, you just have to work to put the topic in people's minds as they rush by us, many laughing in our face and some taking great care to mock and embarrass us. It's remarkable, the example that some parents set for their children, the tough guys swaggering in our faces and putting on a show for their teenagers. The worst is the kids, being pushed by us by the parents, who are angry that we have "spoiled" their fun by being outside (in a cordoned off area), but exposing their kids to the truth. The kids are the saddest, they are confused and occasionally we can hear one ask, Mommy, why are those people carrying those pictures? and I wonder what they tell them. Nobody wants to be exposed to the truth. So we don't expect them to NOT go inside, but we hope that they will consider not buying another ticket in the future. We ask them to consider letting this be their last show. Don't come back next year. Feld hires a person to shout about their program through a high powered amplifier system to drown out anything we can say. It's a contest. It's hard work, and we did it through awful weather too. Very discouraging, hard to keep your spirits up. Feld had the grounds where they kept the animals screened (they covered the fences) so that nobody could see in. But if you climb the exterior stairs to the stadium next door, you can look over the top, and we saw them in their endless rocking of despair. Feld had the police (OUR local police) to chase us away. On the last day, when we had gathered our stuff to leave (the performance had started), we met a woman on the grounds of the arena with her kids, one a toddler and one about 4 or 5. We didn't understand why she was there. She told us, "you were right. I had no idea how awful it was." They had nearly front row seats, and her 4 year old asked her, "Mommy, why are they hitting that elephant? he's doing nothing wrong!" She had left 5 minutes after the show began. What a great day, that we had straggled behind in our cleanup (when you do it for several days in a row, it's very hard to say "goodbye", to leave the elephants behind... we were kind of wandering around, not really wanting to go home), and met her! I shook her hand enthusiastically, and let her know what a pleasure it was to meet her, and how she had given us renewed faith.
