BG (the initials stand for several things, depending on what she is or has done at the moment, lol... she had to stay with hubby when we separated, unfortunately he keeps her outside 100% of the time, but at least he agreed to keep her and still has her), is a Pit x, 2+ yrs. **BG has gone to the Rainbow Bridge, hit by a car and killed. She will be missed**
Chi named Star when we got her, now called Shy, 7+ yrs. Recent adoption, a new senior, 15+ years old, Yellow Lab/Pit mix... he was named Isaac, but I call him Dufus as he is so much a clumsy, funny dog. He is virtually deaf unless you speak loudly right by his ears, but is getting along well!
I also have a Cherry Head Conure Parrot named Gloria, now about 10 years old.

- How we met:
- Honey is a pup of our first Choodle, Tootsie, who has since passed.
BooBoo was adopted from HS.
Flossie was a stray in the neighborhood, I took her home, planning on finding her a home, but in the meantime, my Dobie, Sugar had passed, so decided to keep her.
Shy is a rescue Chi from a high-kill shelter who I found when searching to adopt another older chi.
Recently adopted Dufus when I saw his pic in the Humane Society Newsletter and found out how long he had been living at the shelter... he needed a home! He had been at our local Humane Society for over a year (the one I had worked at), he looked so much like Echo, I just had to get him and bring him home. Have had him now for about a month, and is fitting in well! Gloria, my parrot was a birthday gift, got her when she was 15 weeks old, a domestic bred bird.
- Pet likes:
- Food, treats and anything we eat (in small doses).
Love, love and more love!
Gloria, the bird, likes sunflower seeds and peanuts out of her bird food and scattering most of the other stuff on the floor.
Honey, well she is my biggest baby, until you get out the comb, scissors, nail clippers, etc, then forget it, you won't find her for an hour.
Shy has to go with me when I go anywhere, unless it is too hot and I will be going in anywhere she can't and has to stay in the car!
BooBoo loves everything!
Dufus likes to eat! Recently since being settled in, he will just come up to me and stick his big head in my lap until I pet him for at least 20 mins. He sleeps a lot, I suppose due to his age and now being in a real home with carpet on the floor and out of the shelter environment. He is my first real yard hole digger, tho' if I let him have a couple out of the way spots, he will leave most of the rest of the yard alone... lol! : )
- Pet dislikes:
- Honey hates being groomed, she is a devil that has to be sedated for anything to care for her. Needless to say, she has dredlocks 90% of the time.
Flossie is afraid of gunshots, thunder, and most loud noises... also hates the water hose.
Shy is also afraid of thunder and storms.
Honey hates it when we leave... if we are packing a suitcase, she tries to pack herself!
BooBoo does not like to be picked up much, other than that, pretty easy-going.
Dufus only dislikes being left outside when I am not here, unfortunately cannot always hold his water, so he has to be out when I am not here. Otherwise he doesn't seem to mind anything, except for being late for dinner!!
Gloria is ornery and does not like to be handled, but she talks a lot!
Needless to say, I can't leave home for long lengths of time unless someone is here to watch my furbabies.
- Pet’s favorite spot:
- Honey and BooBoo, our bed...
Shy.... on top of me, wherever I am at....
Flossie, anywhere I am.
Dufus just likes a soft spot to lay... he is usually on his dog bed in my bedroom or follows me around. He also likes to lay in the sun on a hot day! He is so glad to be out of the shelter!
Gloria just like to stay in her cage, tho' I can wheel it from room to room, at nite in the bedroom, during the day when I am in other parts of the house, she gets parked in the living room.
- Pet’s favorite toy:
- Each other... and me. Gloria loves her McD's Owl keychain hanging in her cage on her swing, where she sleeps with it on her back.
- Pet’s silliest habit:
- Too many to mention.. lol.
- Pet’s sweetest moments:
- When they are sleeping.
- I crack up when my pet:
- Honey likes to act the stud with BooBoo... when she starts bouncing on her back, not on her rear, I just crack up.
Gloria gets so mad when her Owl falls off her back, she just squawks angrily until she gets it back up there!
- My pet is unique because:
- They all pretty much chose us.
Each has their own personality... I love them all more than I could ever possibly have imagined.
Prayer for Animals
Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals,
especially for animals who are suffering;
for animals that are overworked, underfed and cruelly treated;
for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars;
for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry;
