Profile Information

Proud pet parent of:
Patrick & Thor
How we met:
I found Patrick a little over 12 years ago at Wayside Waifs in Kansas City. Patrick passed away on Monday 4/27/2009 - His leg broke while outside playing and it was discovered he had bone cancer.
I found Thor on Petfinder.com at a rescue group out of Arkansas a little over 3 years ago.
Pet likes:
When Grandma comes to visit!! Chasing bubbles!! Riding in the car!! Giving lots of kisses!!
Pet dislikes:
When Mom leaves them at home. Screaming children. Cats. Werewolves.
Pet’s favorite spot:
On the loveseat in front of the front window in the living room. Patrick sits with his back legs stretched out and one elbow over the back of the loveseat and his nose to the window. Thor lays with his chin on the top of the backrest - gazing out the window.
Pet’s favorite toy:
Patrick: Bubbles
Thor: Anything that Patrick has
Pet’s sweetest moments:
When they come cuddle up in bed with me first thing in the morning.
I crack up when my pet:
When Thor starts howling with sirens - he starts out with a deep voice then goes to a shrill sound - just like a siren!

Patrick was a natural born clown - there are just too many to mention!

IF A DOG WAS THE TEACHER: If a dog was the teacher, you would learn stuff like: When loved ones come home, always run to greet them. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout..! run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Missouri German Shepherd Rescue Needs Help Near Sioux Falls, SD

One of our rescue dogs - Cuddles - has a family interested in adopting her. They are from Howard, SD. Please contact Sandy @ MOGSRescue@yahoo.com if you know anyone that can do a home visit in Howard, SD.
(Howard, SD looks like it's not too far from Sioux Falls, SD, if that helps any.)

Cuddles is a special case that came to the rescue with a horrible case of mange. Additionally, she was starved, weighing only 48 pounds when she should weigh closer to 70. Cuddles was also suffering… Continue

Missouri German Shepherd Rescue - Foster and Adoptions Are URGENTLY needed

Hello all,

To honor Patrick's memory and give Thor a companion when I have to be away from the house, I am fostering a dog from the Missouri German Shepherd Rescue group. Tango looks more like a Malamute/Husky type than GSD but he needed somewhere to stay until he gets a "forever" home and we took him in.

A couple of pic's of Tango:

DOG HEAVEN

Dog Heaven

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years.

He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before… Continue

PET RULES

PET RULES

To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door - nose height.

Dear Dogs and Cats,

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the… Continue

Wow Leroy is super cute! That is great that you take him! I am also happy that Thor found a new friend in him! I am sure the loss of Patrick was very hard for him too.
That is so wonderful of you that you donated that much. I think it is hard to donate at the moment for a lot of people. I would love to be able to donate money but I am a college student and unfortunately do not even have enough for myself :) But I will be done in a couple of years and hopefully I find a good paying job. I am sitting right now in front of a huge stack of accounting papers..uff... all that work better pays of :)

Anyways, hopefully we saved at least 2 of the dogs this way.. I hope Mimi will write back soon and let us know everything.. but I am sure she is pretty busy right now..

I gotta go running with Quenn (my GSD) now, during I am writing he shoves me his leash in my face..lol...

Thanks! My collection of animals has changed... I tried to update it yesterday but it didn't work. I did again a few minutes ago, and now it shows what I have currently. I have more photos to upload to... I just haven't been on here since November, when I adopted Titan and still have a lot of updating to do I guess! I love your background! And Thor is such a pretty boy!

That was a great thing you did for those Shepherds. I adopted my boy by finding him on petfinder too, and I grew up in St. Louis, MO. Small world out there! I'm so glad you helped save those beautiful dogs and wanted to personally thank you. It pains me everyday to see dogs in that position and I try to help as many as I can even if it's just emailing or getting the word out... The happy stories keep me going! So sorry to hear about your boy Patrick, but it looks like he had a happy 12 years with you and that's what matters. Have a good weekend!

I am not certain I am ready to get another dog right now. I would get one and it would work out, but with our circumstances right now I think I should wait a while. But if it came to one being put down, I could change my mind. I have been in contact with Julie at New Beginnings and have been helping to raise money for a new shelter. And she often has dogs that needs a home and has told me when I am ready she will have one for me. But I just can't bear knowing such beautiful dogs will be put down just because no one wants them.. If I could I would adopt all the dogs that need a home.
