Lulu-saved her at 6 weeks from a caustic burn from a so-called rescue. She sat on my feet and looked me, while all the others barked and ran around. The keeper didn't want us to take Lulu because she was worried she was sick, so of course we had to. Thank God! 24 hours later Lulu was sent to the hospital and spent a week in preventative care due to an electric or chemical burn that went through her entire body (mistaken for Parvo at first). She is fine now, but came home at 4 lbs. (and we found out she was around 6 weeks, not 9 like we were told).
Dori-a customer of my husband's accidently let her cat out and could not keep the kittens. We got Dori on the 1 yr. anniversay of 9/11.
Sadiebugg-I got an email that this little 6 mos. old lab/pit was going to be euthanized (because Ionia County doesn't care for pits). We worked SO hard to find a foster in GR, which we did, but it fell through. We got the call Monday night that she was going to be put down, so we flew there to get her. She is SO sweet!!!!
Pet likes:
Tennis balls, other dogs chasing her, snuggling, swimming, bones, burying bones:), daddy, Payton and Taylor, all of her family and friends and being loved.
Strings, balls, scratching our furniutre, treats, tuna (beware of using the can opener).
Sadiebugg- being out of her crate, on walks, US
Pet dislikes:
Dori the Cat.....not a lot of dislikes.
Lulu the Dog....these two are not friends! She doesn't like strangers or a lot of people. She doesn't like to be outside very much but loves to lay in the sun. She is a very shy cat and unfortunately, this prevents us from getting another cat.
Sadiebugg-not quite sure yet
Pet’s favorite spot:
Lulu- On the chaise or where ever you were sitting. She is a seat stealer. At the foot of our bed. When she was little she slept between but now she is way too big. She tried the other night, but didn't like it so much.
Dori- on the large window sill in the basement
Sadiebugg-in your lap
Pet’s favorite toy:
Lulu-Tennis ball or wubber-kong
Dori-an old Christmas ornament that is small and round.
Sadiebugg-not sure yet!
Pet’s silliest habit:
Running with her butt dragging on the ground OR trying to bury her bone in a blanket.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Lulu-When she came home from the hospital and clung to us, when she cuddled with me everyday when I was pregnant, playing with our baby Payton.
Dori-when she was a baby we were so scared because we couldn't find her. After a long search I found her rolled up behind our entertainment stand with her "lovey" one of those arts and crafts cotton ball things.
Sadiebugg-when she saw me after she got spayed yesterday. The moment she realized that I had come back for her!
I crack up when my pet:
Lulu- Prances in the snow (we think, she thinks it is water), sleeps upside down and snores, drags her food bowl under the dining room table, has her feelings hurt when we are upset and jumps in a laundry basket (I think to make us laugh)...My most favorite is when Lulu runs as fast as she can and almost drags her butt on the ground.
Dori-when she tries to get the laundry out of the laundry basket through the cracks. When she runs and jumps in the air.
Sadiebugg-we she can't get enough of being outside
My pet is unique because:
Lulu- She is 1/2 Pitt, which we where unaware of and has become the most loving member of our house. She has an enormous personality and always wants to be the center of attention (even if it means coming and sitting in your lap).
Dori-She is very shy and attached to her Mommy and Taylor
Sadiebugg-she is loving, and sweet and beautiful, but no one wanted her. She loves children, she is gentle and very cuddly.
Thank you!! you pittie mix is adorable. I want to get one so bad but I live in an apartment- but as soon as I get a home- I'm getting one!!
you having a good weekend?
Thanks for the info. I will check with Sargeant's vet. He is due for his shots next month. Might move that up. I am really leary of even taking him for a walk, but if I don't he paces around the house. I just keep a close eye on what he sniffs.
Hi Amy,
Just a note regarding IAMS and also food additives to pet foods. I thank you placing the IAMS post, it got me to start a little research of my own and Ellaine has been very helpful in providing me with her correspondence with IAMS.
I am getting ready to feature this story on my pet sit blog so that my customers and other consumers can be made aware of the true story about IAMS. This is why the ASPCA community is so important, it helps all of us get the word out to each other.
If you have any other information on IAMS (besides the video on YouTube) please let me know.
And you really peaked my curiosity about the food additives. This again is something many consumers do not know. Please, forward me any information you have found.
Consumer Affairs (consumeraffairs.com) has some very interesting news items regarding pet food - I provided a link at the end of this message.
Here is a link to my pet sit blog about the recent findings on Nutro foods: http://www.securepet.biz/wordpress/2008/08/nutro-food-update/
Here is what I found out about some other interesting additives:
Back in December of 2007 lab tests confirmed Menu Foods cat food contained acetamoninophen and melamine. In addition, acetaminophen was also discovered in other samples of dog and cat food. (As you know Menu Foods Inc. supplies many manufacturers of pet food with the ACTUAL product, the companies just slap their label on it!)

I'm pregnant for the second time. I adopted my himalayan, Ceaser, from the animal shelter shortly before I conceived my first time...he was approximately three years old at the time, so now 6. When I brought my daughters home from the hospital, (y...
I left my 9 month old dachshund at home penned off in my kitchen, and came back 6 hours later where my two roommates had obviously been drinking and being rowdy. I then went to find my dog in the kitchen and she unable to move her back legs and ha...
