Thanks Darren. I love all kinds of animals. The dog in the photo with me was a chihuahua I named Dancer. He was the Chihuahua I took care of when the Pasadena Humane Society (I volunteer there) went on a stop one day. Yes, I will sign the petition.
Thank you for the compliment. I am not a professional photographer. I just seem to have a natural knack for photography. I have consided taking photography classes, but I never got around to it. I found out I have the photography talent 25 yrs ago when I had my first daughter and started taking photos. Sometimes I enter my photos into the county fair, if I think I have an exceptional shot, and I have always won a ribbon whenever I enter. I do take thousands upon thousands of photos and of course not ALL are exceptional. I have over 20,000 photos posted on a website for photos called www.fotki.com there are photos of everything there. Anyway, it sounds like there is hope that Jazz will become more affectionate and more of a lap kitten as time goes by. I too added a second cat to the mix so he would have more companionship then just me. I work at home and when it was just Jazz and me, he would interfere with my work on a regular basis trying to get my attention and his battery operated toys were really added up in cost for batteries.. so we adopted Harley who had the sweetest personality in the shelter but after a few weeks with Jazz, Harley has started mimic Jazz's behavior toward humans. I hope they both come around to be lap cats in the end. Dalen
One thing I just noticed about your comment - if you want Jazz to come around to you - be patient, let him do it. He, like Sasha, may never be a lap cat, but he may get close to you in other ways. My Monique, a beautiful Sealpoint Snowshoe Siamese, would not let me hold her, but she'd sleep with me everynight. It took her a while to get close to me also. Sasha never stays on the bed the whole night - cats are nocturnal and they roam. They are also wonderfully independent creatures. Be patient with Jazz, he'll eventually come to you on your bed and you won't have to carry him.
When you say it took a long time for your cat to get close to you, how long do you mean? I got my wonderful Jazz last August from a shelter and he used to run from me, but he would sleep next to me when I shaped a soft blanket into a C and put him in it. During the day, it was hard to get him to let me pick him up. He softened to treats, and well, now that he is a one year old cat, he will let me pick him up and approach him, he does comes smooching up for kisses at my computer, but he doesn't jump up in my bed and sleep with me. I have to put him up on the bed and pet him til he settles down and will stay.. but he doesn't stay the whole night and he does really only stay by my side or by my feet. He is lavished with love, attention and affection. I would never even yell at him. I was just hoping he'd be more affectionate and more of a lap cat. Do you think he will ever come around? Dalen
