How could YOU??? all animal lovers should read this.....

A man in Grand Rapids, Michigan incredibly took out a $7000 full page ad in the paper to present the following essay to the people of his community. HOW COULD YOU? By Jim Willis, 2001 When I was a puppy, I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child, and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend. Whenever I was "bad," you'd shake your finger at me and ask "How could you?"-but then you'… Continue

what every animal rescuer goes through at some point.....I want to QUIT

for anyone that has rescued, or still does, we all go through the same thing....wanting to quit, being overwhelmed, feeling sad and that things are hopeless at times..... I want to quit! My health is bad. There are days I feel so terrible that I can barely move. My phone bills are outrageous, and I could have replaced my van with the funds I have spent these last 3 years---on animals that were not my own. I want to quit! I spend hours and hours emailing about dogs. There may be 500 messag… Continue

I continue because of them.....

today while I was browsing online a few things really made me stop and think. I find it so disturbing how disposable people make pets out to be. Take for example, this beautiful pure bred golden retriever, who was found as a stray by animal control, so flea ridden that he had bloody sores all over his body. His toe nails were so long they curled into the pads of his feet. Or the yellow lab that I have, one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet, her owner was starving her to death, no food, wat… Continue

empty inside

I drove to the Vet today to pick up some animals that needed to have care done. As I was sitting there I thought about you and the last time I was there. My heart breaks every time I think about you. I asked when your ashes would be returned, and they told me you were ready today to come home again. As I looked at your remains, tears in my eyes welled up. I looked at the heart shaped box they put you in and felt so cold and empty inside. It's hard to think this is all that is left of you, my onc… Continue

My Snow Angel

You came into my life almost as suddenly as you left it. I seen you one day on the computer and fell so in love. I traveled many times to see you during your struggles with your health. But you were so strong and you made it through. I brought you home with me one day, and I was always so proud of you. You would gallop in the snow, and run around and act so silly. Always bringing a smile to my face, no matter how bad of a day I would have. Too soon after finding my snow angel, she would become q… Continue
