CHILE: stray dogs poisoned…terrible suffering
Authorities are using strychnine to poison strays in Puerto Montt, Chile…thereby also endangering family pets and humans as well. This poison which is not degradable produces convulsions and extraordinary pain while the victim is still conscious. The dog pictured below died a painful death within minutes after being fed strychnine laced food. These monsters would rather poison innocent animals than promote sterilization that would lower stray populations. Please send a note to the addresses below letting them know what you think of such barbarism and cruelty.

Fur Free Friday 2008

Make plans to act for fur-bearing animals on November 28

Fur Free Friday, the world’s largest and oldest anti-fur demonstration, takes place the day after Thanksgiving every year. Join IDA and activists throughout the world as we urge shoppers to never buy fur, stores to stop selling fur, and media fashion writers to reveal the truth behind fur.

While many companies have fulfilled their pledge to go fur-free, other popular brands and retailers such as Nordstrom continue to profit from animal suffering.

Make a commitment today to take action for the 50 million victims of the fur industry. It could be as simple as making a phone call or writing a letter. Imagine how powerful we could be if everyone reading this would just take a few minutes to engage in one action for animals killed for their fur.

Here are just a few ways to help animals on Fur Free Friday:

• Take part in IDA's Call-In Days to ShopNBC later this month to ask them to stop their sale of fur. Be on the lookout for details in an upcoming e-mail, then act!
• Attend or organize an event in your area such as a demonstration or educational table. This year we are recommending that activists target their local Nordstrom. If you don’t have a local Nordstrom, any fur retailer will do. Visit our Fur Free Friday website to learn about the many different ways that you can participate.
• Send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Click here for sample letters.
• Sponsor IDA’s anti-fur ad in your local newspaper.
• Hold a screening of “The Witness”. This is a must-see film for anybody who doesn’t yet consider him/herself an animal advocate. For tips on holding a screening, go to the Tribe of Heart website.
