SUSSEX, Va. -- Former NFL star quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty Tuesday to a state dogfighting charge in Virginia in a bid to make him eligible for early release from jail.
Vick, 28, pleaded guilty to one charge and not guilty to a second count involving torturing or killing animals. The second count was dropped.
Vick was given a three-year suspended sentence. The plea could potentially speed up his return to the National Football League.
Federal law prohibits prisoners from being released to a halfway house if there are unresolved charges pending.
Vick was expressionless throughout the brief hearing. He told the judge he apologized to his family and to children who looked up to him as a role model.
It's a real shame that Vick, that POS, never has apologized for what he did to those poor dogs. All he has ever really apologized for is getting caught! If he goes back to an NFL team then it just goes to show that there really is no remorse and that if you have a big enough name you really can get away with murder! I HATE, HATE, HATE our judicial system!!!!!
