Yes there are animals here in the U.S. that do need to be cared for as well. That is not what this petition is about. There are animals everywhere that need to be cared for.
These animals offer our troops so much. They give them the unconditional love that our men and women need to get through a very hard time in their lives. Those of us who haven't been there could never imagine what our military go through. They rescue these animals and give their love to these animals but if they get caught with them then the animals are taken away from them and killed. I personally think that it doesn't matter that these animals where not born in the U.S. they have given so much to our troops that they should be treated as hero's as well.
This is of course my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own but I don't see how putting into place a program to spay and neuter animals in Iraq will help keep the population down. This is a war torn country that at the moment can't even take care of the human population little own think about the animals. The U.S. can't even put together a program to keep the dog and cat population under control. Working in a shelter you should know what these innocent little unloved and unwanted souls go through. If we (the greatest country in the world) can't fix this problem then Iraq surly can't be expected to do so.
Anyway that is enough of my ranting.... I really do wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Tanja, Please help with the comment below. I am not able to send this to you as an email or send it to members of the different groups due to my computer is having a problem. I can only leave it as a discussion on the groups I am already a member of (won't let me join new groups either) or leave it as a comment. Please pass onto all your groups and friends for me.
Thanks for your help.
Please help our military in Iraq to save their new friends and companions. These dogs and cats where rescued and cared for by our troops and have become pets and mascots to our American solders.
However General Order 1A prohibits conduct that compromises characters and morale. This also includes a strict prohibition on the keeping of pets, even though soldiers' pets provide immeasurable comfort and would clearly enhance morale, not compromise it.
Because of these regulations the military has a habit of confiscating and killings animals rescued by our troops rather than allowing our men and women of the Armed Forces who have sacrificed so much to adopt and take home the animals that have helped them through the horrors of war.Our troops and their pets should not suffer anymore. Urge the military to rescind this part of GO-1A.

wow, congrads on the job...that is one job I would love to do...one problem, I WOULD WANT TO BRING THEM ALL HOME WITH ME....lol....and we have enough that is until we find the next rescue baby...take care and good job.
Yes, you are correct in a sense, that why should they hire when they can get for free. But there comes a point when you are just working on behalf of management which gets "credit" for running a shelter "short staffed," and you end up being the cause of that, and then advancing someone else's career. The frustration is that if you stay away, the animals suffer. How can you work up the enthusiasm for volunteering when the shelter management essentially says, 'we'd rather be short handed than work with you?' It is just too upsetting. If the volunteers don't show up, the animals don't get out... but they still won't hire, despite that they DO have the funds to do so. At a certain point, I can't understand why the employees do not "rebel" and complain that the management is exhuausting them by remaining purposely short staffed: with so many people out of work, it is simply unreasonable to insist that there are no "qualified" workers to hire. Management that works in sheltering just does not want any "new" voices that might challenge the way they do things... even if those voices have good ideas. The new voices are seen as a threat. At the end of the day, why volunteer when you just go home and cry the moment you get to your car? The frustration of wanting to and being able to do so much more is overwhelming. The shelter management just continues to want more and more of your time and asks for money donations etc., but you are really just pushing their career along... management is reaping the "reward" of your work. But staying home is torture... when you know the animals need attention. I've grown to "hate" volunteering in a way, it is so frustrating. And I have come to view the "advice" that volunteering is a means to employment is simply not true: unless you already have paid experience in a shelter environment, they will not hire... I've been trying other shelters as well. I am just giving up in frustration, and can't sleep knowing how much I could help but am not doing so. My heart aches to help, but I cannot do so. I do not post to discussions any longer, but wish I could do so, I have the feeling I would blow your discussion out of the water... I have a lot of hostility to unload!
Thanks for the request!! But I have to tell you we have more in common than just the LOVE of animals..... I am a die-hard Steeler fan, love the back ground!! I don't have to many Steeler fans around here. I guess it's cause I live in Texas.....Haters I did rescue a cat and gave him to my boss, I named him "Steeler" cause he is Black, they left his name, thought that was cool. GO STEELERS - Superbowl bound!!!!
Come on in and talk about anything your heart desires as long as you respect others. You do not have to talk about animals. Post a joke, a story you read, let out your frustrations etc.
Be Nice!
Please confirm that this "Full Moon Rescue" in VA that is being written about is NOT Full Moon Farm in NC. http://www.fullmoonfarm.org/
Full Moon FARM was hit hard by the ice storm on Christmas and really needs help repairing and cleaning up. Pictu…
This is a group for anyone who wants to voice any opinion that they have on pit bulls. Whether you like them or not, you have a right to your own opinion . Just as long as you remember, If We Kill The Innocent, We Become The Enemy!
