YAY!! I too just read your story!! My daughter and son-in-law have 2 pit bulls and they are wonderful!! When I was little..I was bit in the right eye by a german shepard..come to find out the dog's owners was feeding him gunpowder trying to make him mean. I never blamed the dog, but the owners. They had no business having any animal for a pet. Unfortunately the dog attacked someone and was put down. The people were able to get another dog to abuse..this I never did understand!
Way to go, Shannon! I only just ran into the comments about your plight today (June 21, 2009) and have been anxiously searching for the final outcome. I am so relieved to hear you won the battle.
Laura
WoooHooo!!! You get em' Shannon! Awesome! I'm so glad you fought for your beautiful dog! I'm a new member and just read your story today, it brought tears to my eyes. Dave and I have a Doberman and we get all kinds of "crap" from ignorant, uneducated ass*oles. I hope you and Mojo are doing well

THE WINNER OF OBEDIENCE SCHOOL!!! BOY NOW THIS WOULD BE THE SHIT!!! HA HA HA HA!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL LAUGH... MADE YOU FEEL GOOD DIDEN'T IT... HUGS THE FREE FAMILY :~)
I am so glad you got your baby back! I was just logging in for the first time in a while and was on my way to sign your petition when I was greeted by the great news that Mojo is safe at home!! Way to stand your ground and fight for your Mojo!
There was a really great program on Animal Planet the other day concerning pit bulls and the animals taken from the Vick-Dog Fighting Incident. Be sure to look for it as I am certain it will air again... or it may be available online? It talks of how the media depicted the animals as vicious... rather than victims and the success they had finding nearly ALL of the dogs’ homes! In fact, I meet one for myself here in Las Vegas while at the dog park!
sorry to hear of your problems but thankfully you still have your buddy...thought this web site and info might help for future...Do you know that people have ran for public office to change policies and laws much less important than this issue ? more Important than petitions is taking civil action within the establishment
Breed Bans - Bad Idea
There are no bad dogs, just bad owners - Vote NO to Breed Ban Legislation
Breed ban legislation are laws which outlaw specific breeds of dogs. No, your dog does not have to DO anything wrong, he just has to be, and he will be put down because of his breed. Anyone who is for banning a specific dog breed truly does not understand our fellow canine's. I am a true believer in that, there are no bad dogs, just bad owners. Do you want living proof? Invest some time into watching Cesar Millan - the Dog Whisperer. The man can take the nastiest Chihuahua, Dachshund, German Shepherd, and yes, Pit Bull and in a day, and sometimes a matter of an hour or less, turn the dog around to where the dog's demeanor is totally different. It is as if you are suddenly dealing with a totally different dog. The dog did not change, the handler did. Cesar then teaches the owner the proper way to handle the dog. He does this with no hitting or yelling. He simply understands what a dog truly needs. People who own out-of-control dogs are not giving the dog what they truly need, and are almost always treating the dog like a human rather than like a canine. To ban a specific breed of dog because "SOME" owners do not fulfill a dogs needs is insane. If breed ban legislation ever becomes an issue in your area, be sure to vote NO.
Think these laws will not affect you because you do not own a dog on the list? Think again! Read:

Hi, I signed the petition "maximum penalty for the men who hacked up a puppy." I'm asking you to sign this petition to help us reach our goal of 100,000 signatures. I care deeply about this cause, and I hope you will support our efforts. Here are the basics of the case:
Hardened police officers have been shocked by the horrifying torture, mutilation and brutal slaying of a seven month old fox terrier puppy near Mackay at the weekend.
If found guilty, they could face up to two years in prison. Police have obtained video footage from a mobile phone which shows graphic images of the puppy yelping and howling in terrible pain as it hacked to pieces with garden shears and a pocked knife.
They said the owners were too distressed to talk to anyone about it.
The pups nose was cut off, its front right leg and rear left leg were cut off and it was decapitated. A three-part video series on a mobile phone shows the dog being tortured.
The maximum penalty under the Animal Care and Protection Act for such an offence is $75,000 or two years in jail; however the maximum penalty ever handed out has been a four month jail term.
WE BELIEVE THESE MEN SHOULD RECIEVE THE MAXIMUN PENALTY AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA FOR THIS SADISTIC, DISGUSTING ACT.
