The detectives I spoke to said they thought it was youths. Gangs have beco0me a real problem in Atlanta... I imagine that burning animals is the first step before armed robbery, rape and murder.... whoever they are, I KNOW they will get their just rewards in the long run- maybe a nice prison sentence?
Thanks Melanie! If I didn't mention it, he was burned in a series of gang initiations that were going on in the Metro Atlanta area- there were over 20 dogs burned in the same manner... I was blessed to have met several of them and even helped adopt out two of them to great families- so I would like to think Bailey came to us for a reason! This is Bailey in his hat- silly boy! Love Sue
Hi Melanie, He is fine now... but it was a long road- he was very nippy when we got him and had 2nd and 3rd degree burns that had not been treated. He has the exact same markings in the photo on his back- there is no hair that grows there and he has doggie sunscreen he has to wear when we go outside. We also could not imagine anyone setting fire to any animal (the investigator asked for skin samples which I sent and they confirmed the use of an accelerator) and it was even worse to think that he might have happily gone up to them (he is a happy little clown boy)- only to be hurt. We think his marking looks like a Chinese good luck symbol. Ron and I both decided after his external wounds had healed, that there was no way we could give up fostering him- we feared if anyone else hurt him in any way, he would react justifiably with a nip or bite and then would be sent back to the pound for sure death. We just couldn't take the chance. He is no longer nippy - at all... he is such a Doxie some days... and such a Min-Pin on other days! The most amazing thing though- he can "smell" bugs! Ants, spiders- even fruit flies.... he can sniff the air and then the ground and find the smallest bug in the most remote place! What a nose! I am so thankful to God that we got the call to take him and that we have him with us today! Thank you for all you do for the animals Melanie! Love, Sue (and Bailey and Tinky and Marsha and Katie!)
Stormy is doing wonderfully. Everyone raves about his charming personality, but I still haven't found him a home despite my vast efforts. I know someone will be forever grateful they adopted him... I just have to find that person now.
Thank you for the pic comment. They always look so nice after a bath, and that's when I remember to get the camera out. I need to get more candid shots of them.
I found it just easier to get blood work done and let the Vet test to see what my Max was allergic to and then treat from there. Most of it was food. A few out door stuff and that I couldn't help to avoid. Like me, I can not just not go outside for…
No, I realize you didn't.. but didn't want people to think that it is a cure-all for all itching.. only specific types AND it's an ongoing curative that needs to be continued for longer term.
Now, it's interesting to note that often times in young…
