I must start out by saying how much I love my dog, how proud of him I am, and how I respect all that he's been through.
When Rowdy was a VERY young puppy, he and his 7 siblings were dumped off at a puppy rescue home. Seeing that he was a bit skinny when we picked him up, I think he had to fight his siblings over food (though otherwise, he was VERY well taken care of). Well, a week before my husband and I drove to MO, an individual dropped off four puppies with Parvo on the stoop of the rescue home. Being the kind soul she is, Jodie (the rescue home owner) did everything she could to save the pups, but all four passed away. Unfortunately, a health inspector came by (who knew about the situation, and was checking to make sure everything was ok) and didn't change the slip covers for the shoes (like you wear in a maternity ward in a hospital), spreading the parvo from the sick puppy pen to the other cages. My poor pup was exposed, but after his examination today, he is Parvo free!! Yay!
I'm so proud of Rowdy for how fast he is learning! He loves to be held, and is learning what to chew on and what not to. When my husband and I first brought him home, he was absolutely terrified of the stairs, but now he's learned to go up them, and just today has learned to go back down! Hooray! Now to work on potty training...
