animal cruelty

I have a 4 month old bulldog that was kicked by a neighbor, in the face, three days ago. The police came out and even though he admitted to kicking her, the police said they could not do anything. She went to the vet yesterday because she now has cherry eye in the eye she was kicked. The vet said that this normally happens when there is trauma from something or someone. I can't believe we can not do anything to this neighbor.

That is not right at all. There has to be something that can be done towards the person that kicked your dog. I would check and see if there is anything that you can do, go over the cops that you called. Thats animal cruelty it's no different if that person was to have kicked your child. I hope that you find a way to deal with this and I wish the best for your dog.

HI... I also think it is horrible. This man came onto YOUR property and caused damaged to YOUR property. Unfortunately, this is what the law refers to your animals as... property. However in some ways that is good, since it does leave you legal recourse.
I cannot believe the police would not do something for at least the trespassing??!! I would file for a 'No Trespass', and also inquire about a possible Restraining Order since he did injure your dog to the point of having it treated at a veteranarian. Get a written report from your vet who saw the dog, and take it to the county sheriff office or courthouse. Explain to whoever it is appropriate for this matter, what happened. This person TRESPASSED onto YOUR property with the intent of damaging your property. That is criminal, and the police need to be redressed for not taking arresting him if you wanted to press charges, much less for not at least making an incident report. It is inexcusable.
But, you have to go through the police. You have to have a report and proof from the vet. Then you may try to at least file a small claims case for the damages as far as recouping the vet bill.
I am still trying to figure out, when you called the police, why they did not ask you if you wanted to press charges for the trespassing. That is illegal. What really makes it criminal is that he did it with the intent of damaging your property (i.e. your dog). Depending on the amount that you ended up paying to the vet to 'repair' the damages, it may be a felony. You need to check on that in your state/county. I believe here, anything over $100 in damages takes it from a misdemeanor to a felony charge.
You still can file charges. Just take your vet bill and the names of the police officers who came to the call, to the county. They have to take this seriously! This man is dangerous, I don't care if it was 'just' a dog that he injured! That he would hurt a living being shows he has no respect for the rights and feelings of much of anything. That he would come on your property to do it is dangerous. Who knows what he may do next... get an order of no trespass and/or protection. Hopefully the knowledge of that will keep him away from you and your property.
Now YOU have to keep a watchful eye on your dog and make sure he never wanders off, in fact I would not take any chances, would not let the dog out of my sight. If you do, you may never see your puppy again, and you will have no real knowledge, much less proof, of what became of him.
If you get the no trespass/restraining order, and this person violates them, they have no choice but to put his butt in jail.
Just my take on this situation, but you will have to do all the work to prevent it from happening again. Better than moving... which is not always possible or convenient, much less being an expensive alternative to solve this issue.
Hope all is better, and that you have gotten/can get help. There has been much good advice posted. Please let us know what happens and don't leave us hanging on wondering about it!
Thanks, and all the best to you and your family! Take care... Wendy ;: (

Your best bet would be to never leave your pet alone and because this man sounds nothing less than insaneI wouldn't confront him personally cause he may do more harm to your dog and because he has gotten away with it he'll get away with it again....the police obviously don't think this as a crime but it is animal cruelty is a crime with violaters being jailed and fined. Amanda has a point....contact the ASPCA in Manhattan where the ANimal Precinct show takes place and there are so many happy endings.....if those shows are for real because I hope they are gives me hope that the bad guy gets their day...they can help you and if that doesn't work everyone on this site should contact YOUR local law enforcer office with petitions demanding that something be done to throw that asshole in jail so he never ever thinks he has the right to kick a baby dog or any dog...............

If you are talking about the ASPCA Animal Precient have I learned a few facts about the very people I have supported for years. I have had a real wake up call with a horrid animal abuse case in Brooklyn NY. Check out Herding Dog Rescue, Inc. in Balwin NY on Petfinder. Look for Duncan a little border collie/Sheltie mix with a huge blue protective cast on him and read his horror story. If this does not make you cry and anger you beyond all anger possible. The ASPCA was involved with this poor animal and did not press charges against the little felons who beat him up or his owners who never brought this poor little guy to the vet.

Your neighbor is sick; sick; sick! OK! Now that we have cleared that up, why did he kick the puppy?
Was she aggressive toward him, barking, growling or trying to nip at his legs? We had a Doxie/Chihuahua mix years ago who was the sweetest most gentle dog, yet one time a repairman from Montgomery Wards came to the house and she would not let him out of her sight, barked & growled the entire time. She did not trust him, for whatever reason she knew he was not a nice person.
The best thing I can suggest is to keep the dog away from your neighbor, and if anything like that happens again sue the SOB!

yes let us know what happens next and what I can do to help if anything. I do not condone stuff like that and if you need me to call your local authorities to question what the bleep they are doing to protect your dog and you from this violent neighbor I will.

hey good luck and if you need me to sign a petition to hand over to your precinct so they get up and do something let me know. It is for law enforcement to approach this asshole don't you do it alone ....this ahole isn't worth you or your pup getting hurt again however you do have a right to protect your property so if he trespasses again get it on video and call your dad anyone who is male to tell this guy it's NOT OK

***********Get this user banned - animal torture videos ***************

My friend just told me about this - There is a user by the name of cathater1990 who continues to post videos of kittens being drowned and stomped to death here on youtube. Obviously, it's very disturbing. Perhaps with enough people we can keep people like this off of Youtube, since Youtube seems to be ignoring the issue. Go here to report this user and flag their video:

**Where can this be best reported? This NEEDS to STOP!!! - Please help!!!
~Thanks Leah
