PLEASE HELP ME

I am a US citizen now living in the UK. I had to leave behind my kitty Tigger for a brief moment. When I tried to get her over here the beginning of September, things proved more difficult than I had thought they would be. It is not easy bringing an animal to the UK from the states as the UK has no rabies, so I have been at an ongoing struggle of what to do with my kitty. She has just recently been taken to my brothers where she isn't doing the greatest. She needs medication that he can't seem to give her and I fear that she will become quite ill or possibly even die if she isn't given the proper treatment she needs. I have only a couple of choices left to me, take her to an animal shelter(I have just called a couple of them today though, and one will not take her due to her age, the other would take her, but would only put her down immediately, and I fear that all other shelters would be the same) The other option would be to have her put down, but this option is a bit too extreme for me since I know how frisky she is on a regular basis. My last option is to have her transported from Chicago O'Hare airport to Paris, where I can pick her up and bring her home. The only thing is that I can't afford to get back to the States to pick her up. I have called United Airlines and they do allow cats to be in the passenger cabin on the journey from Chicago to Paris. So my question for all of you is....do you know anyone that is going to Paris from Chicago, and wouldn't mind taking an adorable kitty that needs her mommy along for the ride? I would pay for her ticket of course, but unfortunately with all the other costs that I've had for her since I moved over here, I wouldn't be able to pay the person bringing her. I am hoping that someone out there reading this has a good heart and is going to be taking that trip and can help me out. I have thought of every other option and this is the one that is the best for Tigger...PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

Michelle,

I would be cautious with leaving your cat with a perfect stranger that you know nothing about. I know you want your cat to be with you, but letting a perfect stranger to her would make me very uncomfortable. As Barbara mentioned, can you afford the $612 to go home and pick her up yourself and bring her back to you? I think you mentioned a while back that you are not working yet so this would be a good time for you to do this without having to miss any work. Maybe you can clean houses temporarily to make some extra money in your area. I know in the Chicago area, house cleaners get $80 in my area and a smaller house would be around $60. Most people pay cash too. This is just a suggestion. Is it possible to ask a travel agent if they have connections with any airlines that would do you the favor of bringing your cat with them on their flight from Chicago to Paris? I know this is a long shot but I thought I would throw this out there. I wish someone on this website or maybe someone who volunteers for any of the animals shelters in the chicago area would be willing to fly with your cat to Paris. I can provide you with names and phone numbers of shelters here in Chicago or you can go to Petfinders.com and look up Chicago, IL for animals shelters and there is probably a phone number for each. Someone might know someone who is planning on going to Paris. I would trust a volunteer from an animal foundation than a perfect stranger. I agree..don't give up. You need to get her to you within the time frame you mentioned so she doesn't have to repeat any tests.

Tigger's mom, I understand you are torn here- but what exactly are you looking for? We have offered you every option except for the money for the ticket. There are only so many ways to move an animal from point A to point B. If none of these options work for you, you need to pray for some acceptance. I seriously don't understand your situation anymore. Regarding your comment of "If I had to go through this alone, I couldn't deal with it" if you were alone, you wouldn't be going through this. And this is partly my point. Also, by saying Mr. Tigger is not an animal lover, that doesn't not make him an animal hater. There are people (and I think most fall in this category) that LIKE animals. I didn't mean to offend him, I just see a distinct difference. Maybe a better way to put it would be animal crazy better instead of animal lover. Anyway, I think all our work here is done. I wish you luck in solving your problems with Tigger. Oh, you need to click on "collars" then "cat collars".

Ok, I want to do a new thread, but I'm having a hard time doing it. How do I do it? Can someone help me? I have been all throughout the whole site and I'm probably missing something simple, but I can't see where it says to start a new thread. I have time to do this today, and so I want to do it now while I have the chance. Any help would be appreciated....

Two websites to check out for information on international travel with pets. The first one is government regulations that may help you.
