Sarah McLaughlin ASPCA Commercial

I'm curious to see how many people have joined the ASPCA after viewing this commercial. I personally can't watch it because it hurts way too much and I end up crying. I think it's probably the most effective commercial I have ever seen. It makes me want to make a difference, not only financially but in other ways too. I want to be involved hands-on and would like to hear ways other people have employed to make a difference in an animals life.

This jus happenned less than a year ago and I just reported them to the veterinary board. I didn't know their was such a thing but as soon as i found out their was I made the report. I hope no one else has to go through what I did because I miss my baby, she was their when I was pregnant with my daughter and we cuddled alot. I just miss her more than words could say. Lately I have been helping this nice gentlemen in Chicago who lost his dog when he was out here for the superbowl. I sent him the link to the az humane society and I send him picts and I dont even know this person. I just love animals and care about their fate. I just wish we werent hurt the way we were. It effects my kids and I deeply.

Just talking about the Sarah McLaughlin commercial...I am not an ASPCA member, but when I can afford it I probably will join. I am a member of PETA and havent' even paid my dues yet this year. Money's tight for everyone. Having trouble stretching out the bird food I have for my 3 rescue parakeets till the end of the month right now. This is the first time it has ever happened.

ANYWAY.

That was not the point of my post.

Just wanted to say her song "I Will Remember You" will always make me cry now. (It's "Arms of the Angels" in the commercial.)

Everytime I play "I will remember you" I think of my sweet little Peridot, female parakeet we lost last summer. She had a hernia on her crop and had surgery. (yes, I paid for--made arrangements with the vet-- to pay $900 for her surgery) My vet, who I trust emmensly, said it was not a death sentence and it was a fairly common surgery.

It's a long story. THe hernia was all the way around her crop, this did not show on the x-ray. She came through the surgery beautifully, but it was a more difficult surgery than the vet thought it would be. He actually had to separate her digestive system, remove the hernia, and reattach the system back together.

She was in hospital 4 days and was released to come home. I thought she was going to be ok. She came through such a rough surgery so well.

But her 2nd day home she began vomiting so we rushed her back. She was kept in the hospital, but passed away overnight. IT's like she just came home to say goodbye to her two little boyfriends, Isaac and Pulsipher.

In a way her passing was so unexpected. And I immediately thought of "I will remember you".

She was such a special sweet little bird. She was my first female budgie. I have kept them since I was 13 years old, more years than I will admit.

Sarah McLaughlin's songs are so touching. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes thinking of my baby girl and that song...

I am the same way. As soon as I hear the song come on I have to change the channel. My husband laughs at me because I will be in tears. If he would let me adopt more dogs I would in a heart beat.

I am joining this week actually. I cry everytime I see that commercial and actually just adopted Anna, a dachshund because I wanted to help an animal. She was about to be put to sleep. Now I have 3 dogs and a cat. I know I am at my limit on animals I can actually have but I can help by donating money. The babies didn't ask for this and I want to help out however I can.
