I JUS DONT HAVE WORDS TO SAY ABOUT THIS SO CALLED "MARINE" MATTER IF FACT WORDS R TO GOOD FOR HIM...

I agree with Kim on this 100 percent! This guy, if you want to call him that, caused his own problems. Sorry for the family but he brought this on himself!!!! So did the other men that were with him at the time. The man standing beside him and the one the shooting the video. As far as I'm concerned none of them are worthy of the military and need to be dealt with harshly! You think about this man's family but what about all the people it's effected or even better yet...what about the puppy? This Renee needs to back off and take in heed that others are very disturbed about these Marines actions and at least they're talking about online and taking physical action towards which he seriously deserves. I definately don't want that crap protecting me and my family. What's next...they going to throw a child of a cliff and video tape it? That is scum!!!!

Reply to This

Well, this Renee, as you put it, doesn't need to back off. If you had read what I said, you would have seen that there are multiple discussions already going on and have been going on since this news came out. I am not in any way defending this guy. I think he should be punished as far as allowable and then some!! The point was, WE have been writing and keeping up on current news on this.
There are discussions in which many people have provided contact information to express outrage at this heinous act. The idiot depicted in the video is in Hawaii all nice and safe now. I hope they prosecute the pants off of him.
Find some of those discussions and get the base commanders contact info I provided and write to him. Express your outrage where it will help get this guy punished!!!!

I haven't read all the posts, but Shauna brings out a few good points. First, these guys pulled out a video camera to tape something. They all knew what was about to happen and NONE of them stopped it. In court, its called ACCESSORY TO A CRIME. In the eyes of the law, it is just as bad as committing the crime, since obviously they could have stopped him before it happened and/or reported him after.
Second, there is a bigger matter at hand here...this is just one example of our armed forces abusing the innocent. It's happening to innocent animals and innocent people and IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. These guys taped and publicized their crime, but trust that there are many more acts like this that are not on video. Violence begets violence....do we really expect these men to plant flowers for kicks? (Not in any way trying to defend the scum who did this...)

Exactley sicko he is and yes the family may hurt but that puppy hurt too I bet more than anyone he's a sick bast**d n that's even 2 good for him n the others are no better

This guy is a total loser- Will NOT be able to function as a member of society when he comes home. So sad that he's so brave to go over there yet so stupid to think he could get away with this. This dude needs serious help

THIS GUY IS NOT A MARINE HES A LOW LIFE SCUM BAG.

Don't the Marines have an ethical code of conduct they are expected to uphold? Contact them about this incident is an excellent tactic. Even if they don't care about the poor puppy, they WILL care about the black eye this nationally viewed incident gives the Corps!

This is truly disturbing and is absolutely abhorrent behavior if it in fact is true. Certainly nothing can excuse this type of heinous act, but I am reminded that these young men and women are operating under intense stress and pressure, the likes of which most of us will never understand. Having said that, I am sickened that this act would be committed upon an animal who as well, is a product of an incredibly insane environment.

HI Bailey,
I understand that you have just come across the video of this sickening, cowardly and dishonourable act by the entitywith no right to call himself a man. There are a long list of posts, including a couple of mine on this ASPCA page http://aspcacommunity.ning.com/group/dogsville/forum/topic/show?id=...
(i hope i got that right) which was started by Nathan Janes in Dogsville. There are a few other discussions around as well.
There is also a petition link somewhere in ASPCA as I signed it, asking the USMC to investigate. I understnd the need to do SOMETHING about it.
Perhaps you can also email your parliamentary representative (as we call them in Australia) to request something be done and contact the media to let them know how outraged you are.
I am writing to my local representative to make sure we have the processes in place to address anything like this if it happened (God forbid) over on our side of the pond.

I have not, and cannot, watch the video. The still shots and descriptions are bad enough.

One danger I see is that the politicians and military heads may move, not so much to stop the cruelty, as to stop images of it going public. Will there be more restrictions placed on online content posted by service personnel? Will these sort of monsters just get better at hiding what they do?

People need to be confident that this sort of behaviour will be recognised by the authorities for what it can be, a precursor to psychopathy and maybe even the training ground of the serial killer. From that point the military have big responsibilities over what they do in these cases. How do you feel about discharge back into the general population?

Also I understand, and correct me if I am wrong, there were others present, who I assume DID NOT REPORT this person's behaviour. If they did, what happened to the report? If they didn't then they have to answer for this decision to do nothing. Were they complicit, or afraid, or feeling bound by group loyalty?

Many questions about this incident need answers, and I am happy to see membrs of the ASPCA online asking those questions.

We owe it to Puppy.

CONTACT INFORMATION / TAKE ACTION:
1. Contact U.S. Department of Defense officials and ask them to make
regulatory changes regarding animals in war zones.
Specifically, urge the DOD to institute these policies:

Insert and enforce an anti-cruelty clause in the Universal Code of Military Justice.
Investigate all animal cruelty crimes and take prompt punitive action.
Utilize non-lethal vaccination to cope with rabies concerns in Iraq or other countries.
Implement an adoption system that lets soldiers bring vetted pets back to the U.S. with them.
