How can I help my 5 year old rescued lab deal with thunder storms? She hides and shakes until the storm is over.

My sheltie was terrified of thunder his whole life, but I found some tricks that made it better. You can get your vet to prescribe mild tranquilizers that you can give to your lab if you know that a bad storm is coming. Another trick I used was to turn every fan, telelvision, radio, or any other "white" noise-maker on in the house. If the thunder wasn't too bad, then Alex often didn't hear it or at least seemed to be less upset. Good luck. My current dog is a lab mix too, and he is scared of thunder, and the tricks that worked with Alex don't work with him.
