I have a 4 month old bulldog that was kicked by a neighbor, in the face, three days ago. The police came out and even though he admitted to kicking her, the police said they could not do anything. She went to the vet yesterday because she now has cherry eye in the eye she was kicked. The vet said that this normally happens when there is trauma from something or someone. I can't believe we can not do anything to this neighbor.

Yeah do that, remember silence is complicity, so I guess you should report him, as soon as possible. Killing an innocent creature just because he was mad? And being a coast Guard? He must be nuts, and yeah you should prevent that people who are supposed to help are doind this.

Your neighbor damaged your property. (I know that we all prefer not to think of our pets as property, but the law certainly does.) You can file suit for actual damages, and since the dog is a living creature, you may be able to file for suffering. At the very least, you can teach this moron that if he hurts your pup you will hurt his wallet.

Don't you believe it..You can sue him in small claims court. You may not be able to make criminal charges stick, but I believe in small claims you can get medical bills and up $15K in damages.

Hello ASPCA,
i lived in new york for a large part of my life, and have currently relocated to brazil. The conditions here are horrible, stray animals, especially dogs, walking all over the place. They are hungry and cross the street with no regard of traffic. Animals are always getting hit by a car. They either die, or are forced to live a life with broken bones. This is sad, I hate to see animals like this. That is why I am writing to you. You have a love for animals as do I. Is there any way to start your services over here? Everyday that passes, I get sad on the thought of having to go outside and be faced with this. Help! :´(
Yours truely,
Natália F.

Natalia that is a wonderful thing that you want to do out there. I lived in New York my whole life and still do. I have family in Rio de Janieiro and Sao Paolo in fact my father who recently moved in with his new fiance took in 2 filas and a baby pit bull who was walking as you say in the street with no where to go and just dumped it my father found a home for the pit bull baby and kept the bigger dogs Katia his fiance is a real estate broker so she may be able to find you a cheap place and she loves animals as much as you and I do so I am sure we can enlist her help.........it is true as you say the animals are very bad off and no one cares out of ignorance because I guess they think they are supposed to be that way it is wonderful that you want to start something up. Do you speak portugese I am assuming you do...if not my father could help and be a translator. I can also help with contacts if you want to open a place all you need is space and volunteers to take the dogs in and then find new homes for the dogs and cats you take in..but Rome was not built in a day so start slow if you can save one animal a day that would be an extradinary thing....word of mouth could spread and soon enough you will be saving so many it all starts with just a caring soul..yours......You will need vet tech and a vet to take care of the dogs once you get them in and access the broken bones and stuff but if you know about medications you can administer the vaccines yourself ......I am sure there are people who want to help you out there all you have to do is get the word out but seriously if you need help contact me at eddabataan@msn.com give me a contact number and I don't speak portugese but I can find out where you are and get in touch with my father and his fiance and they can call you Katia and my father loves loves animals and I am so sure they will help you with contacts ....so get in touch with me I have long distance plan with cablevision so if you send me your # I can call you and get things going...

Let me know

Ooo. That is the kinda stuff that just ticks me off. Luckily I dont have to worry about it, I have a full grown, one hundred and fifteen pound Doberman; who has had k-9 training from the sheriffs office. And to add to it my Dad is a detective. Just wait till your bulldog grows up, then we will see who is messing with who.

hey I've been spending hours trying to find the answers to my questions but with no luck so hopefully posting here might help. I am a tenant living with my 2 roommates who both own dogs. They are completely unable to take care of living creatures. They own a Boston Terrier and a Pit Bull. The BT is the owners and the PB is the owners fiancee. They have left their dogs unfed for atleast 3 days at a time and leave the poor PB in its cage day in and out only being able to go out to the bathroom when the landlady feel like bothering. I've gone to the BT water bowl and seen mosquito larvae swimming in the water. The BT def gets treated better than the PB but both dont eat on a daily basis and are taken care of when its convienent and when their owners bother to take care of them. I feed them daily and try and let them out when I can..But this must be animal abuse. I mean spending days and weeks on end in a cage alone has to be..am I correct? Is there anything I can do for these poor dogs before I move out? please let me know my email is penenki @ yahoo . com let me know please. I live on Long island NY

ryan that is abuse and please do not leave before you do something for those dogs because they have had a terrible life thus far it seems and only you can be their voice. The jerks who own these dogs don't care spit for them a dog needs love and not to be caged up 24/7 without food and without walks and fresh water constantly. They would be better off in someone elses' care. The poor pitbull gets a bad rap so if you call animal control chances are the pit bull won't be replaced so make sure it is a no kill shelter and their are pit bull rescues in New York...so where are you from????try to finda no kill shelter and offer these guys a chance to surrender their dogs. Please don't leave them.
