by the way..something you might want to think of if everyone got their cats fixed in ten years there would only be a world of 9 year old cats left.

There is no way that people could get every cat in the world fixed. That would never happen. However, there are THOUSANDS of homeless ferral cats in the US....a household had hundreds of cats in it because the first 2 were not fixed and they just kept breeding. You are taking a blind eye at it if you say there is not a problem with over population of dogs and cats in the US...or in the world.

Along with the matter of overpopulation, Spaying and Neutering helps protect our furrbabies from breast cancer (yes! cats get it too!), testicular cancer(this can happen in dogs as well!), and all other sorts of pretty bad diseases...

... whats so wrong with a 9 year old cat? I live with 4. (one is mine... the other 3 below to my roomates) and one of the 4 happens to be 17 years old and still going strong! Age is just a number; in humans, AND animals :-p

Oh, and I agree with bams as well ... too many homeless cats out there NOT to spay and neuter...

sammy..what saddens me is your apparent total lack of knowledge about being a good cat owner..it takes more than food and water

you dont even seem to know that if a cat isnt fixed..she will defintely get pregnant..esp as you seem to have loose males that are also not fixed..so what did you think was going to happen..you wanted her to get babies?

seems so as you went and got more cats..i know you must really like cats, and i wish you would learn some things about taking good care of them..

what they should eat or not eat, and how fixing a female keeps them from getting babies, and helps them not get cancer..

what kind of water is good for them..what shots they might need or not need..what things can poison them..etc..

i wish you would read up online about how to really love cats..and/or get a book about them and what they need..

i suspect you also let them run free outside, and if you do, the boys will make a zillion babies, and people like me will have to resuce the moms and babies if we can find them before they die or are killed..and the boys will or not make it home after [catting around] without being hit by cars , shot by someone or terrible fights..as well as many diseases they can pick up out there and then bring home..

please learn a thing or to about how to really care for and [LOVE] cats.

blessings, marion

SAMMY..I WANT TO TELL YOU THAT I DIDNT KNOW EVERYTHING I NOW DO ABOUT CATS.
YEARS AGO, I JUST LOVED THEM..AND DIDNT KNOW ANY BETTER THAN TO FEED AND WATER THEM

I WISH SOMEONE COULD HAVE TOLD ME WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW..

I AM SAD THAT I NOW KNOW MANY OF MY PETS SUFFERED BECAUSE I DIDNT KNOW ANY BETTER.I LOVED THEM, BUT DID N0T KNOW HOW TO REALLY PROTECT AND CARE FOR THEM..

SO I HOPE THIS WILL BE A WAKE UP CALL FOR YOU, AND YOUR FAMILY OF CATS, AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THE HOME..

BLESSINGS..

MARION

I was very fortunate that my Mom raised siamese cats when I was going up. So I do know a bit about cats. Not everything but a bit. And bams481 is right, we will never actually fixed all the cats in the world. If that ever happened, the cats would eventually died out. There will always be a problem on cats and dogs on overpopulation.
Marion is right on one thing, you can buy a book about them to get most of your answers. The ones you can't get answered, you might want to check with your vet. Good Luck!!

Perhaps if you share where you are located, someone could point you in the direction of a low cost spay/neuter clinic or you can do an online search for one in your area. http://www.spayusa.org/

Please make sure all your cats are spayed/neutered. Your cat will continue to spray everytime she is in heat. Until she mates or is spayed, these estrus cycles will repeat as often as every two or three weeks.

Please do not take in any other cats until the ones you have are appropriately vetted and altered.
