I have a 4 month old bulldog that was kicked by a neighbor, in the face, three days ago. The police came out and even though he admitted to kicking her, the police said they could not do anything. She went to the vet yesterday because she now has cherry eye in the eye she was kicked. The vet said that this normally happens when there is trauma from something or someone. I can't believe we can not do anything to this neighbor.

I totally agree with you. Sometimes I hate people. Animals are soooo harmless, they don't choose their path in life and can't take care of themselves, and some cruel people literally torture these poor animals. People like that should be punished the same way for instance killing a person!!!!

I saw something about a dog being so matted he couldn't move a couple of weeks ago on Animal Planet and the animal police took the dog away from the woman. It was a lovely poodle, but it snapped at the woman who wanted to adopt him. I wonder what happened to him. Very sad. He was never socialized I guess. Perhaps you can ask the owner of these dogs if you can take them to a groomer. They might let you as long as they don't have to pay for it !!!!!!!!!

Talking about groomers. I was in Petsmart and I thought I heard a dog crying across the store from where I was, when I checked out I heard it again loud and clear and looked over to the groomers and saw in the windows a groomer holding a old dog and clipping the hairs around the paws, it looked like the groomer was holding the paw so tight that it was hurting the dog, I mentioned it the lady at the check stand and she closed the lane and went over to check it out. I stood there and watched until she checked it out and made sure that the dog was not crying anymore. I think the groomer finished clipping the hairs around the paws and the dog was relieved. The poor dog looked at me through the window and I think he knew I helped out. I can't believe they allowed a groomer to let a dog cry in pain while being groomed. It seems like they have trainees at Petmart or something because when I go in Petco, I never hear a dog or cat cry and they seem like older groomers and experienced.

They either left the dog there or the owners were sitting right in front watching all of it because I looked around for them and they were watching that particular dog. They seemed like they couldn't speak English very well because they were communicating with another person sitting next to them in Spanish and they just looked that type.

the best way is to literally stand and have your dog watched while they are grooming him, so that way you know he's safe and not crying

Is there an ASPCA office, or unit, in your area? Start there first. Workers can come out and tend to the dogs. Perhaps some serious charges need to be levelled at this (these) neighbor (neighbors). Where in the world are you, anyway? Where is all this heinous behavior taking place?
Want my honest opinion? Well, I'm giving it, anyway. Your idea about dog-napping is not so far fetched. You'd be doing the animals a favor, indeed, escalating their lives into something much, much more comfortable than what they are used to. You can revel in the fact that you're a savior of sorts, and that, in my mind is so very important! Heroic, I'd say! I wish you well, so very much!

The original person who started the discussion with her post about her neighbor abusing her bulldog has not seen fit to update the group on what she has done with all the advice she has received, much less about the condition of her dog from being kicked (I think it was). There have been other posters asking her about the situation and her dog's health. She first posted way back in October, and I have been following almost since the beginning. I have also asked her to repost about what is happening, but she seems to have disappeared.
This is all about animal cruelty... that is the main thread. There is much useful advice and many stories about the group's issues. Read a few, you may be enlightened.

Wendy...I really hate to say this, but this situation is something I am familiar with and have gotta bascially "burned" 3x. I would acutally post things like okay enough is enough where are you? It's sad that there are some out there that don't don't take things like this as serious as the people that respond to help them, like I said I was victumized 3x but it doesn't stop me from trying to give my support and help, but it is infuriating. I agree with you

Just because they have food, shelter and water still holds the owners responsible for their coats. Infections and pest infestations are indeed a problem. Fleas and ticks make an animal anemic so therefore I would contact the local animal control and see what can be done or speak to your own vet and see if they can pull any strings and get you into the right organization to help these creatures.

I was going to suggest basically the same thing AliciaM did. But you can also go on line, at this site as a matter of fact. Find your state and it will tell you what the aminal cruilty laws are in the area that you live in. Contact the ASPCA in your neighborhood and report the incident. Here Metro Aminal Control investigate aminal cruilty.
You may need to go to civil court to get the vet bills paid for, but I suggest doing this because if nothing else this will let the perpatrator know that he can not get off scott free.........

I agree they should pay your vet bills at the very least, however the online stuff has not worked for me. My adult daughter petsat for an HA and needed backup and her back up got bit but does not want that dog hurt so she wont seek medical help=automacially gets reported, so I serged for doglaws in that city and all of it is lawyer type talk noone understands and mostly about the entire state of CA or about a huge city about one or so hrs away. so online did not work for me.
